Just had 1st ever Tesco Grocery shop delivered...

Having taken advantage of the £10 off + 1000 bonus clubcard points offer on the Tesco Online Grocery shop I got my 1st ever online shopping delivery tonight but they have substituted some items I didn't want and the driver took them away, obviously I have been charged for these as they are on the printout, my query is, will Tesco automatically refund my CC for the unwanted items he took away or will I need to phone the 0845 number to get them to sort it?

Cheers

I really dont get that policy where they substitute items. I choose the products i want and I pay for them if its not in stock why dont they give you a ring first?

once i ordered two packs of yoghurts because they where on BOGOF and they didnt have the flavour so they sent one other flavour, not two but just one although they on BOGOF, the driver said keep the one pack and i will put it down as a return, but its daft what they put in, my friend ordered something like a cauliflower and they substitued it with an onion :?

If you have ordered a certain brand of a loaf of bread and they don't have that brand in stock I can understand them substituting it as they wouldn't want to leave you without bread but you would think they would use common sense when you have ordered BOGOF items that you wouldn't want expensive substitutes!

Ok under the food item you can click on write note and you can leave a short message for your shopper, there is also a box you can tick if you don't want a substitute. I don't know if it saves up on each item like when you shop, your 'favourites' are saved up and you just clock into basket what you want to purchase,if the no subs is required to tick each time, that be time consuming.

I'm vegetarian and its stupid too when they bring me meat and fish.

i gave up on online shopping it took so long, i felt i had to write up for evrything as my last order with them was terrible, i had so much fresh stuff that had one days date on, the fruit was already turning, the eggs where smashed, the veg was already turning, so i just gave up and only ever use now if i reall am desperate, even with the vouchers off it was more trouble than it was worth

I was concerned about that as we are veggies and ordered some Pizza's and thought they better not substitute for Pepperoni one's :giggle:

I think next time I will put a note for my picker though to be safe.

Sometimes you have to chase them up for the refund of the item.

Money Spinning,if you keep shopping with them,I bet sometime you get some freebie or other, they don't really care lol,I've had alsorts handed over,1 time we had a bag of food and it was like expensive prawns etc,it went down well with my Mum. Although sometimes, your stuff missing too,it works both ways, think last time or time b4,they left my frozen on van and driver brought it back round within 15mins or so.Another time my frozen Quorn bags got handed over to another, the driver recalled it when he came back round to redeliver it,he said some guy took it but wasn't quite sure about it but hsi wife did the shop so took it anyway.I lost count of all the freebies we have had, with 1 type of mistake or other.
Be nice for them to leave some printer cartridges or some dvds accidently :)

I always check my eggs, and thats true about some stuff having such a short date on it,thats the disadvantage of it,least when you in there you can pick your best date.
However I feel for us,more advantage than disadvantages and it was 1 of the 1st things I did was a shop online when we got net.

I just send anything back I not want,if they not got any veggie sausages they may well likely send you regular Pork ones,in my opinion Sainsburys pickers seem to have more commonsense when picking the subs.

Just to leave my comments on internet shopping -

I am vegetarian and have never had a meat product substituted

If they give me only 1 of a BOGOF deal then I call and explain and get it refunded

If products from tesco are delivered with a short shelf life I call up and say that its a bad shelf life and say that sainsburys tell you this and allow you to give it back (which is true) and they always refund it

I have had TONS of stuff free, but only ever had 1 bag missing and the driver realised before I did and called to say he would be back in 10mins to deliver it! The best thing I I have had was a £40 bottle of champagne. But most weeks we get something. This week it was a 6pack of crisps and a 6pack of cans.

HOWEVER - a few weeks ago (as already posted on another thread) we got hotdog buns complete with fly lava in both unopened packets so the next day we had tons of flies in each pack - and Tesco customer services werent bothered at all. Didnt even get an apology. Havent used tesco since

Yeh I read your post about buns, you think they apologise and send you a voucher as good will,I got £15 once for a hair baked into a roll from Sainsburys.

I had a tesco delivery today and the ******s put two packs of salmon fillets in which I didn't order and never even charged me for it.

I should have complained, but thought better of it.

Tesco must make more mistakes like that prissy. My sister has tescos and she very often has items shes not ordered and dont get charged! last time i was visiting her and they deliverd, she had an extra bag of food! I think im going to switch to tesco!

I think reason why is they take on too much, and with a lot of big concerns these days, they want to take on as less people as possible.Nearly every shop I get from them there is a mistake - sometimes to my advantage, sometimes the drivers don't really care, specially if they in a hurry.I may want to return an alternative and we can't find it,and the driver be like oh don't matter I'll take it off,say it was never in there. They meant to put the alternative item into inside carrier bags but they don't always do.

Bet they were worth a few quid,my Mum says she like them to deliver me some ciggarettes by accident.

It makes you wonder why they encourage people to do grocery shops online, surely it would be in their interests to get you instore instead to tempt you to spend more than you would if you were online + they wouldn't have to pay staff to handpick our orders that way which can't be cheap.
