Just had someone at the door from Scottish Hydro Electric....

He said some stuff about me not applying for my refunds etc, said that transco had been bought out by hydro electric and that now they supply the property, said that our supplier had been bought out by some spanish company and that the bills were being sent from spain and talked about direct billing, to be honest I wasn't in the mood to stand and talk so can anyone shed any light on this.

Was he just making all this up? Have you noticed your bill getting dearer?

Any info would be great.

Who is your supplier?

Also...Transco no longer exist anyway, it's National Grid now.

Well we've not heard about any buy-outs of any energy company recently so not sure about the Spain link...EDF are based in France but doesnt mean bills are sent from there, prices remain the same apart from normal price rises.

I'd simply ignore it, query your supplier about any refunds although i doubt this is correct.

Also, was he talking about gas or electric or both? And can you tell me the first part of your postcode?

Scrap that request...your network supplier is Scottish Power distribution and if your supplier is Scottish Power I'd call and make them aware. Scottish Hydro electric have nothing to do with your property.

I did tell him before he even started that I was happy with my supplier, he definitely said that the bills were coming from Spain and that this company, cannae mind what he said it was called tho, but he said that all they are doing is stamping Scottish Powers name on the bill and sending it back with higher charges as its coming from Spain.

He said that Hydro Electric now supplied both gas and electricity to my house, to be honest what he was saying sounded a bit far fetched.

From what I could gather I'd only receive this so called refund by letting him set me up on direct fuel, told me a neighbours name(dont even know if she is real lol) and said she's saved £300.

^^^^^^^^^^ This.

If you are looking at swapping a quick look at quidco will net you £100 for nowt.

None of the big six are Spanish owned, npower is German, EDF is French and can't remember who owns British gas...

Most of your gas comes from Eastern Europe, can't remember Spain ever producing Natural Gas in large volumes?

Thanks everyone, there is no way that I'd switch this way anyways, can't stand people that bother you at your door.

Will leave rep for everyone.

I had one of these guys at my door yesterday and told him exactly the same thing as you.

Scottish Power were actually bought over by spanish company Iberdrola, in 2006, who are the third largest utility company in Europe.

Guy seemed like a bit of a bawbag, seen that I had kids and probably figured I'd just sign whatever to make him go away, I'm going to get one of those signs for my door so they wont knock lol.

If that was the case you'd be paying bills to them already, he's at it....
