That's no way to treat mans/woman's best friend is it, Does anyone else think sentences should be increased for this type of crime, 8 months is far too lenient 3 years hard labour and a daily beating from the guards would be better! Evil sod it's murder in my eyes of a living breathing, feeling intelligent and sentient Animal.

Unfortunately for the past 20+ years the political correct brigade have decided that the criminal is innocent and punishment is not a deterrent whilst victims are left to suffer time and time again.

Such as drug addicts who rob and steal to fund their habit - we are not allowed to state "it's their own fault - it's self inflicted" but thesew political correct brigaders would blame the failing on society

And whilst this philosophy continues they'll be slapped on the wrist with the occasional ASBO and released with a fine or non custodial sentence to allow them to continue to wreck havoc on those victims who have already suffered or for new victims whilst at the same time everyone's insurance premiums and cost of goods increases to cover the losses.

It's about time all politicians and the judicial system got off their protected fat anuses and suffered what everyday citizens have to suffer so they learn enough is enough and start making real deterrent minimum sentences and also make prison a punishment not a holiday destination.

Yes we as a country offer and provide Human Rights protection but once you commit a crime your Human Rights should be voided as you chose to go against society by becoming a criminal

Prison is for rehabilitation. Do you really want to live in a country where "3 years hard labour and a daily beating from the guards" is common? Because those countries exist, they're just not considered civilised. It's easy to get emotional in cases like this, but don't let it cloud your judgement.
Are you serious? The justice system is a joke in this country. A friend of mine was killed by a guy on tag released 18 months early for wounding outside his curfew. The idiot was drink driving when he should of been at home. Speeding at 50mph in a 30 on a turn drove onto the pavement and took out my friend ending his life. The lowlife went through a hedge and stopped. He then drove off at the scene and only got 6 years. I'm sorry but if you went to the scene it was murder through and through. He lost his driving licence for 5 years... So this disgusting human who was drink driving, Speeding, on tag outside his curfew kills a young man (19) drives off. Gets 6 years and will be back on the roads. Emotion should play a part it's absolutely ridiculous.

So you'd prefer the justice system of a 3rd world country? You may not agree with some sentencing, I would disagree with some sentencing, it's natural. But that doesn't mean that we should just revert to executing prisoners, to forced labour or beatings. Everyone's entitled to basic human rights and if you want to live in a first world country, you have to accept that. The justice system isn't perfect, but what some people here are suggesting seems completely insane to me.
You clearly have never experienced a tragedy caused by twisted individuals. Which has resulted in a slapped wrist in comparison to the crime. I'm not saying all sentences should be increased but it only takes someone with some normal intelligence to realise when someone is a danger to everyone around them. Some people can not and will not change and those people are the ones who need to be made an example of. No remorse for people who have no remorse.

I think it's clear that any human that can do that to any animal let alone their own pet is a severe danger to society and should be treated as such. This is just a sign of worse things to come so yeah much harsher sentences should be handed out in cases like these.

Plus the side effects of some psychiatric meds specifically have memory reducing effects especially when mixed with a beer or two.

And rehabilitation doesn't work for 90% of prisoners. A complete waste of tax payers money. Bullets are a much better solution in many cases.

So you'd rather we just execute prisoners?
Not even a question of the death sentence, just "a waste of tax payer's money if they're not rehabilitated, shooting them is preferable"

Some prisoners, yes. It's a waste of lead but better than keeping them locked up for whole life terms.

I don't understand how Northern Ireland increased their max penalty to five years for cases such as this but our government actively states that the current max of eight months is reasonable. What a joke, and this coward should have been made to suffer like that dog did, not released in several months with a new name because of threats. People have a right to be angry with this piece of scum, he shouldn't be protected.

Justice system in this country is a joke. Bad joke. It should be very simple - in cases like this, rapes, murders, beating etc. should do exactly the same to these criminals numerous times. Except in cases of murder ofc but then again it can be done slowly and painfuly. Criminals SHOULD loose all their so called human rights as they are not humans anymore, are they?
