Just rung o2 for an upgrade.........

I rang O2 for my dad too see upgrades for him.. Went through usual channels saying i want to disconnect and go for this "x" deal i've seen. He's not a heavy user, rarely goes over line rental cost. 200-400 minutes a month, 20 texts a month average

Anyway he's been offered: 200 cross network mins, 400 texts, unlimited O2 to O2 for £10 a month, 18 month contract (12 month deals were rubbish), NO phone, but £150 credit - thus making it £30 for 18 months (£1.67/month) .

Firstly it's simple no hassly, he likes his 6300 already and we have O2 broadband (which has been excellent).

Sooooo why the this thread you're wondering? Well i just wanted to know can i ask for more? Anyone recently upgraded and what did you squeeze out of them?

If he's using 2-400 mins a month then the 200 x-network will barely cover his needs surely?

Yes. The reason for the thread was can i squeeze a better deal out of O2

I wanted to create a thread similar to: http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/224187/orange-retention-deals-what-are-peo/

Oh sorry forgot to ask: the unlimited o2 to o2 does that only apply after the 200 x-network mins are up (ie after free minutes finished o2 calls are still free) or even if i have 200 mins left and i ring someone on o2 i still have 200 mins?

I get them on payg and they start from the each of each month on top of cross network minutes.

As a benchmark i'm on payg £15 a month unlimited 02 to 02 texts and minutes, I also get 200 minutes a month from home postcode - should only be 100 but I asked for my pac code and negotiated that(but it works upto about 4 miles away), I also get 50 texts (part of the negotiation too) and then it should leave me £5 credit to do as I wish with. In actual fact I buy my top-ups from a ebay seller £15 for a £20 top-up so it leaves me with a total £10 to do as I wish with of which I spend £6.99 to buy a 100 text bundle.

Hiya Mate,

With my upgrade (in April) I managed to get the Brand New Samsung Soul U900 (Nice Phone!) and 400 minutes Xnet and 500 text. All for £20 a month instead of £30. I then said to them, I do not need so many texts so make it cheaper, they then let me keep the 500 texts but knocked off another £5 so now paying only £15 per month for 400xnet and 500 texts. Also got 1 years FREE Broadband line rental thrown in.

Gotta be worth it!

I was paying £35 for 600 mins and 100 txt my package had 2000 x network mins at weekends - sat-mon on top.I told them i would cancel this was after being with them for 3 or 4 years I managed to get new sony er 850i with same mins and 1000 texts per month for £20. never use anywhere that but everyone in my flat can use my phone and I never run over. we have no landline bill. the only reason we have one at all is the bband.

tell them you will leave, having a comparison will help i compared with 3. but dont let them away with it you should at least get a new hset. just sell it. make money out of them!

Each offer depends on previous spend etc from my experience, but for my son (aged 15) we got 400 minutes (cross network) 1000 texts and free o2 to o2 calls for £30 per month on an 18 month deal. He too did not want a phone so got £150 credit PLUS as we have been with them for ages they also did his line rental half price. This I think is what you too have got???

I know after we upgraded in July there were some changes to tariffs, but I would be amazed if you got what you have for any less. You may get more but would have to spend more.

Whatever o2 have been fab for us and I wouldn't change to another network for toffee!!!

That seems like a really good deal (my contract is up next month so hunting around to see what I can get!). Is that on a 12 or an 18 month contract?

That one is actually for 18 months. Maybe that is why it was so good. But £15 for 400 xnets isn't bad. Plus all the other bits and free broadband for a year.

Im going to give o2 a ring as this seems good to me.

When I upgraded earlier this year I got 1000 x net work mins free, 100 text and free o2 o2 for £40, but they gave me a £10 discount on my line rental for each month, so all in all i pay £30 per month plus I got a free Nokia 6300.
