I haven't put this in Deals, as I know every car insurance quote is different, but still felt the info might benefit someone.

With my car insurance due this week, I have been searching high and low for the best quote. When using price comparison sites, the best quotes came in at around £230 and when going direct to the insurers (those not on comparison sites) the quotes were coming in at £350 - £400.

I also tried most of the options through Quidco, but no real improvement until I tried the Co-operative. Their quote came in at £260, but with £70 quidco, which tracked right away, that came to a net figure of £190 a saving of about £40 on the next best quote.

The other good thing with the Co-op is that they make a donation to a carbon offsetting programme to allow for CO2 used by your car.

So, ethical and cheap car insurance, hope it helps someone.

Great if you can get it! Did my car insurance last night and saved almost £200 on my renewal quote. Was with Sainsbury's and went to esure (both the same now) - funnily enough the online price for Sainsbury's was pretty much the same as esure, some £200 cheaper! You get nowt for loyalty in the car insurance market :x

I've had my car insured with the co-op for the many years now and for the last three years they have continued to put up my car insurance. They won't be getting my business again this year!

Thanks - my insurance is up for renewal in the next 2 weeks. You've prompted me to go look for the best deal now. Rep added.

EDIT: Just phoned my current provider (Churchill) and received a renewal quote for £144.90 for myself and partner, excess £100. I'll check out the others and report the best deal I find here.

If you dont have a Co-Op divi card then apply for one as you also get 500 points which i think is worth £5, it has to be one of the yellow cards, some Co-Op's have different divi cards, link below....

I was struggling due to 2 speeding tickets 4.8 years ago! (gutting!)

I tried CIS as they have been randomly cheap in the past, but no luck this time.

Bizarrely Zurich, who I always thought were for slightly more upmarket cars than my 2001 focus, were the cheapest.

My quotes were between £400-£600 (mostly £450ish), but Zurich was just £360 and £80 cashback from quidco tracked straight away. So £280 is an excellent steal for me, and about £200 cheaper than last year!!

Out of interest, what do you drive? Don't think I've ever paid less than £300 for my insurance, but then again thats what you get for driving 2.5ltr cars in your twenties!

I just got a quote from Co-Op through Quidco and it was 5x the cheapest prices on Gocompare!!
Maybe you just work for them... :whistling:
