Yes they should, man for man, but thats on paper, not always reality

I dont think capello will be letting the players think like that-these commentators are just idiots-there really are NO easy games anymore.

In a one off 90 minute game,ANY team could beat anyone-USA will be no pushovers, and its the first game of the group which is always the most likely for a surprise-we have seen it many, many times before.

hopefully,England win,but this is no formality-I am confident tho that capello is the right man for this job-unlike previous managers he will not be allowing the players to think they almost have a "right" to win games-they need to earn their victories.

Yes England are the favourites to win the match, I see no problem with someone saying they should win.

On the day its eleven vs eleven so anything can happen which is why I hope the England players arent to casual & start stepping things up.
I would have thought Mexico & France would have strolled it yesterday so it just goes to show.

We should beat the bighead's, However remember they beat Spain in the semi's of the confederation cup and we only just managed to beat them at Wembley in a friendly not so long a go.

Plus our performance against Japan was shocking, Against Mexico we were poor.

So much pressure on Rooney, When England fail to win the World Cup everyone will blame Rooney, He'll be the man everyone throws darts at. It's about time the media focus on the rest of the teams attributes/lack of rather than Rooney. He can deal with the pressure but I don't want to see an hate campaign against him.

Even though I'm not really confident in the England teams recent performances, I still believe we can win the World Cup, We have a fantastic coach some world class players, The best striker in the world, Perhaps the team need to believe in themselves a little more and hopefully we win all the group games which will give them the confidence to win the World Cup.

Good post.

The 2 recent friendly games have given everyone a wake up call i think, people were quite happy with qualifying and thought we stood a good chance of easily winning the group and then reaching at least the semis. So it's maybe not a bad thing.

I think capello will have installed a winning mentality in them going into today and the tournament overall.

I saw rooneys interview yesterday with shearer, saying that capello doesnt allow mobile phones, no music in the dressing room and no one is allowed to leave the table until everyone has finished their meals and rooney said it was something that was needed.

Just had a look through World Cup chart and we can avoid Brazil, Italy, Spain, Holland and Portugal until at least the Semi's

In the next round we could get Germany, Australia, Ghana or Serbia

Then at least Quarters before we can get France, Argentina, Mexico, Greece, Uruguay, South Africa, South Korea or Nigeria.

So worst way to final would probably be Germany in 2nd round, Argentina in Quarters, Spain in Semi's, Brazil in final.

Easiest probably be Ghana in 2nd round, South Africa in Quarters, Honduras in Semi's and New Zealand final.

Well if they can't beat USA then they may as well have stayed at home, on paper they are a poor side

I wouldnt exactly say they are a poor side. They are 14th in the world so if we underestimate them then would could pay the price.

What the original poster meant is that they said EASILY, if thats how they think, boy are the english gonna be shocked tonight.

You have to believe !

I think England will qualify from this group with ease and the first 10 minutes or so against the USA will be nervous for players and fans alike but once they settle down I think we have a lot of players with the big game experience and that should tell.

England to win 3-0

The 14th in the world is a flawed system, they play in a crap region of the world, would they be 14th if they had to play in Europe? No, they would qualify.

Yes I know, Australia beat us as well, and Northen Ireland amongst others. The World Cup Finals is a different matter, if we can't beat these cloggers how are we going to beat a Argentina, Brazil, Spain, etc.

you do realise that they actually have to qualify before they can face other teams and if i am not mistaking it has/may not happen(ed)
