I think he had plenty of time to do something with the squad after spending vast amounts of money, probably more than any other Liverpool manager in a short space of time and still couldn't deliver.
A club of Liverpools stature should never be 8th.

Newcastle are in the same position and they've had a decent enough season. There's value out there and they found it.
He deliberately bought British players who had a premium price tag, and they under-performed. It's all well and good sticking with a manager but he has to show you some progress and the owners obviously didn't see that.

Even if you can't attract big names (I don't think it's as bad as you're making out), there's still plenty of bargains out there who Liverpool could of bought for a fraction of the cost of players like Henderson, Downing and Carrol and come up with better results.
I do think Carrol and Suerez could still be a success in the coming seasons with a manager that knows how to handle them, so all is not lost.
Was the Swansea game that good?
Good decision by the the owners even if its regarded as unpopular. They've been dire this season and a league cup success wasn't enough to paper the cracks.... shirely?
