Kids go back to school on Monday, relief or sadness?

I know I should be happy but a part of me hates it when they go back, I suppose its cause its another year gone and theyre growing up too fast. My youngest is nearly 11 and in the last year of primary school, so next year he'll be off to secondary school. Whats other parents thoughts? I think the holidays are too long maybe they could take off 2 weeks and add a week to the Christmas and Easter hols?

Mine go back on tuesday and wednesday and i can't wait. No more cartoon network all day.
I agree the holidays are too long, especially for us working parents plus the kids get bored after the second week.
My youngest moves out of reception now, only seems 2 minutes since he started.

I've been off school for the better half of four months [just finished secondary school, going to college] And i agree, after the first month i really wanted to just start college because I was so bored.

Well, come Monday at about 10am, i'll be boarding up the windows and doors of our local schools. Lock 'em up untill there next break I say, you never know we may produce savages that can be exported to the middle east to fight insurgents. Everyone's a winner.

Ah the wonderful EMA, the thought of getting a whole 30 pounds a week! With the benefits of being able to listen to the rich people's kids and their parents, for that matter, moaning because they don't qualify for it.
#10
I've already had 3 people moan to me haha

My 3 girls go back, tues and weds.... I love having them off school, one is in her last year of secondary , and the other is in last year at junior school and the other is 6 so goes into year 2, so it now means getting back into that old routine again, as for my little boy whos 2, he will be so bored, not having his sisters around, dont know why, but I feel a little sad their going back...

mine go back on tuesday and i hate it i love having kids home with me even though they drive me crackers but its great spending time with them in holidays i dont think its too long its not enough lol as for christmas i think mine break up on the 21st dec which i think isnt enough atall as few days and its christmas and think if they stayed at home longer before xmas would be a better buildup to xmas rather than being at school so yeah im sad when mine go back even sadder next year as my son will be leaving nursery to big school

Wednesday and relief

Yes it's back to school. Time for all the roads to get clogged up in a morning and evening time. Looks like I'll be leaving earlier and getting home later now :(
#18
Sadness - the roads will once again be chokka with "school run" mums. Nightmare!

Ditto, I love being home with my children. If i could home school them i would. However they wouldnt get the social interaction they need then.So i cant win....... Booooo hoooo I could have mine home another 6 weeks and wouldnt complain. I love spending time with them.

In the same kinda way - its been nice getting the bus home and not having the school kid rabble to deal with on a hard day.

Looks like I'll have to charge me mp3 player batterys

My eldest son starts school for the first time next Monday.
He's looking forward to it, but somehow I think he still doesn't understand that we will not be there, even though we tell him enough times:roll:

From a University Students perspectic I'll be glad because I won't be watching spongebob & squarepants all day as my little sis goes back... however I can't wait to get back to uni, not only is there no jobs down here (Kent) which would happily keep me occupied but I came back home at the start of June, its been too long!
#24
Relief!, Can't wait till the little sods go back to school and stop loitering around!!
#25
the more worrying thing is that, my youngest has only 2 terms left then she leaves!!!!!:w00t: :w00t:

Mine go back to school Wednesday,it be my daughters 1st time,at 1st she only going mornings for a few wks then she go full time,I think she be ok,as she been in nursery since she was 2 and half and in the past as done a full day at nursery depending how she did her sessions.
I prefer them off school, and seeing we had a rubbish Summer,I bet when they go back the weather be really good.

 Eldest son goes back second year in Mchester Uni next week. Middle son start first year at Newcastle Uni end of Sept. Daughter aged 11 starts senior school
on Tues. Exciting times for them all.

Very suddenly they all grew up. I was bad enough last year when only 1 went...it's called empty nesting apparently.

It does make the holidays that much more special when they all come home :-D

Mine has just got news that her back to school day (Wednesday this week) could be delayed by 2 weeks due to alterations in the science department, apparently it involves asbestos so, they obviously can't go back until that is cleared up.

So, she's got her fingers crossed!
#31
I can't believe how quick those holidays went and I only wish mine could have a bit longer off. My 1 year old really misses her big brother and sister. On the other hand at least once they do go back we can get some routine back and the house might stay a bit tidier during the day!!
#32
I start college Wednesday actually looking forward to it.
#33
3 weeks to university!

Too many taking their kids to school by car and they only live 5-10 min walk away,I don't agree with people going by car everywhere.
