Kids + Laptop = Knackered keyboard. Any ideas?

Hi all

Anyone know the best way to sort my laptop out. A couple of weeks ago my little un spilt some drink over the laptop. It went a bit funny, so I disconnected the battery, left it for a week or so, then plugged it back in. It all seems to be fine with the exception of the keyboard. When I type and 'm' it comes up with 'm-'. The enter key won't work and do even breath near the z otherwise you get zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

You get the picture now.

I have taken all the keys off (that was a mission!) and cleaned under them, but still no joy.

Any other ideas folks?

Rep to the answer that works, and no hard feelings to the answers that completely ruin the laptop.

Cheers folks

Most are just a screw at the bottom, maybe remove the bezel, lift out, undo clip, put new one in, screw in.

et voila.

You may not need a new keyboard. I had a lappy that developed similar issues after our office cleaner sprayed cleaning stuff on it before wiping the keyboard!! I was going to replace the keyboard when I decided to test how easy it was to take it out and back in again (if it was to hard it would have been an ebay spares and repairs sale cause it was getting a bit old anyway). So I disconnected and took the keyboard out then replaced it and turned it on to see if I'd connected it right. And miracle of miracles it worked fine. With all the keyboard working fine. Looks like the liquid had affected the connections and me disconnecting and reconnecting it seemed to solve the problem.

Long story and long shot, but you might want to try it.

buy a wireless keyboard and forget the one on your laptop or even a standard usb one like this one
conservative design with drain holes for spill-resistance
