Kindle Browser Performance

  I would buy a tablet if you want to read forums and websites.
  
  The Kindle is an excellent e-book, but the browser is pretty poor

  The Kindle isn't really suited for browsing, is amazing for reading though.
  
  As mentioned a tablet is much more suited for visiting forums and various other web based stuff.

  I've got a HTC EVO 3D for that, and it's fine, but I do a fair bit of reading in bed and don't like the idea of shining light into my eyes at that time even at a reduced contrast.
  
  I know phones and tablets are better performance wise, but is the kindle browser usable for what I want it for without becoming extremely annoying?

  It's browsing is very basic. It's all in grey/black tones and is controlled by a little navigation square. No real control and it doesn't support much more than text within a website.
  
  It is great for reading as the grey unlit screen doesn't melt your eyes and the simple back/forwards buttons work exactly as needed.

  i think he is talking about the kindle fire tablet. very well priced perfect for browsing.

  You can use the kindle or most other e-ink ereaders for browsing but its like kicking a dead whale up a beach - its slow and messy.
  
  Get a tablet, like the Kindle Fire (when it comes out) or get something like a HP touchpad or Playbook...

  and click on an article, would it work as desired?
  
  I've heard there is an article mode which resizes text into a readable format too. I'm not really bothered about the performance as long as it can get me to an article and make a long article readable.

  ive had a play on the kindle fire and it works just like a ipad. very quick and has a lovely screen. if anything it was quite heavy but not a biggy.

  Not too interested in a pad as I can just use my phone. Just want something that uses the same kinda display as a kindle.

  I think an e-ink screen would get very annoying after a short period of time.
  
  They hold their value pretty well so perhaps just give it a go
