KISS Flights insolvency - how come pre-paid flights / holidays are all cancelled?

Just had an email from travelpatrol.co.uk that my flights via operator KISS flights are insolvent and my flights have been cancelled. I now have had to pay £300 more for alternate flights yet I booked and paid for the original flights months ago.

My query is why are the original flights cancelled (Viking airlines)? Surely viking airlines confirm my booking and take the money I have paid from KISS flights.

Anyone flying or going on a package holiday should check that in the small print that the operator isnt KISS flights as BBC news said that thousands of people are unaware they have had their flights / holidays cancelled.

Could be that kiss flights didn't actually forward your money on to the airline?

but I would have thought thats fraud. Certainly gambling as flight prices / availability change all the time.

Just checked the flights I booked an hour ago and they have gone up by £100 already

I'm also bewildered in that the original flight is fully booked with viking airlines

What rotten luck csiman.

Yes, I heard on the news that Kiss are sort of middle-men but I also cannot see how you wouldn't get the seats you effectively reserved through Kiss or at least first dibs.

As he said chances are the flights have not been actually paid for by kiss, so the carrier won't have to honour them.

Quite common when holiday/flight brokers go under, they have been robbing Peter to pay Paul, it's down to the insolvency service to investigate to see if it's fraud or not, even so you'll be a creditor did you pay by cc?

yep, always pay for everything via CC online. Got a 7 page claim form from the CAA to fill in but still peeved that my seats were confirmed and now they're not.

Nobody answering the phone at Viking airlines so I wont ever go near them again either.

thanks.

bad luck but I feel more for the families turning up at the airports today and this week only to find their flights cancelled.
