Microsoft are very clever for letting this happen, you prob couldnt get a more powerful box for Kodi..

What's more interesting is emulation through Kodi on the XB1!!

Does kodi emulate games? I thought it was just a front-end, and you had to link separate emulators to it

The official kodi statement doesn't say this at all. It basically says it's a concept they're trying and may never actually be released although they'd like it to be. Given the windows 10 store addition it's reasonably likely but far from a certainty.

And kodi has no emulators, it can just be a front end for others, the same as with the illegal addons.

No but what I meant was that this seems to be a full version of Kodi, so I assume those add ons can be installed.

It's a shame it will never happen, the addons allow piracy which would be a huge headache for MS
Its the same story as "snes emulator coming to xbox one" that was never allowed

As an unofficial 3rd party app that required you to either hardware or software mod the Xbox which voided the warranty and allowed 3rd party unoffical code. I don't see how that gives any indication that it'll come as an official app on the store

Ah true, forgot about the mess you had to go through to get it going.

I still think it could happen, why is it not a headache for Google on their playstore?

Anything you can install kodi on allows piracy, can't really expect microsoft to care as long as it isn't their stuff being pirated.

I think it would be awesome if it happens.

Great news, can finally stop using it on my playstation.

But that was also because there was no store and no useable way of adding and running apps in the original IS, without hacking- rather than an app in the modern sense, it replaced the dashboard etc.

So why are there other, more obvious piracy themed apps allowed, such as Free Movies HD (I hear it may have been pulled, but is still on my Xbox One)? At least KODI is designed to stream from legal sources as well, including your own network.

What KODI does isn't illegal itself, it just so happens it can be used that way - otherwise you may as well not allow the Edge browser either.

Not really, it could have easily been available via a disk like a game.

No, not really, with the way the OS/firmware was at the time. If you then wanted to pay a game on sofa or a DVD, you would have excited XBMC that way, no?

With hindsight, we can now see it could have been different, but the original Xbox was not planned with that to begin with.
