I can't see that age is a problem. It may hurt less as usually when you are younger the hair is a bit finer. Plus, if she starts using one now, the regrowth will be less.

Does she know anyone who has one that she can test out? Some people find them very painful and never use them after the first time.

Thanks prissymiss, no she doesnt know anyone who has one, i tried one years ago and it hurt like hell  but she says that she really wants one, i have ordered one out of the catalogue and managed to get it for £30 insead of £55 so not too bad, just hope she persists with it, my legshave a few scars from not being careful and if she can get used to it it will be much better for her, again thanks for your help, rep left:thumbsup:

The one's that cool as they epilate are ok, they kinda numb the skin beforehand.

Whats an epilator?
[admin]#5
It looks like an electric shaver, but it pulls the hair out rather than cutting it. Leaves legs hair free for longer and a smoother regrowth.

Everyday is a schoolday for you, ain't it ryouga? :)

She feels its now time to do something about the hair on her legs and we discussed all good and bad points on the methods of hair removal and she decided that an epilator sounded the best, dont think she will have that opinion after using it :giggle: I have purchased her the ice one so we will see

They are alot better now than they used to be. I got given one of the first types by a friend who used it once only. I think I tried to twice and no more. It really hurts on the ankles.

Maybe give her a couple of paracetomol an hour before she uses it:thumbsup:

I just thought of pinning her down to do it, but will try the paracetamol idea first:giggle:

Make sure that she doesn't bath or shower straight after as well:thumbsup:

Is it best not to bathe right before too, or better?
[mod]#16
I'd assume it's better as bathing opens up the pores.........but hey i'm a man so what do i know. :giggle:

If she uses it in the evening, there should be no redness in the morning.

I dont spend that long in the bathroom, although I don't like any body hair other than my hair on my head and eyebrows. I even like my arms smooth.:w00t:

At least you get something at the end of it.;-)

If any man can spend 3 hours in the bath and not notice what effect it could have then there is a small problem.

It was the ankles that killed me, strange pain like stinging but worse, then feeling like it for ages after. No way was I going to do the bikini area all off with that:w00t:

lmao not their chin hair LMAO they was doing their legs,Mind you im sure you would have enjoyed watching that!....

I use an epliator regularly since I was 14 and they hurt like hell at first, but persist as the pain gets a hell of alot better the second and third and so on. I do, however, take 2 ibuprofen prior to doing my armpits as this is the worst area. I would advise waxing the legs and using the epilator to get the strays and then carrying on using it so that you only have to do a little at a time.

Caught my 11 year daughter shaving her legs the other week, told her she was too young, but she said all her friends do & had laughed at her! (nice eh!!) got her some removal cream, but it stung like mad!
She has also been talking about bleaching the hair on her tip lip, she is quite fair (haired & skin) but hair on arms legs & top lip is quite dark, as her dad is very dark (Italian) I am certain though if it hadnt been for peer pressure the thought wouldne even have entered her head!

I can remember using a razor on my legs at the same age (even though very light hairs) and cutting my legs to shreds.

As you say it's peer pressure.

go for the cheap option sellotape , or even HBM saves a fortune:giggle:

I think a lot of it is down to peer pressure, but if it wasn't now it would be in a couple of years time. i can remember having the same 'discussions:whistling:' with my daughter. Over the past 3 or 4 years she has used wet razors, deplitory creams, salon waxing (well it was her idea!) silky mits, wax strips, electric razors - but even an epilator was too much for her!!
