have your breasts removed (encourage the missus too) if it guaranteed you not getting breast cancer later in life?

SERIOUS THREAD, DON'T SPOUT CRAP!

I suppose if it was a definate possibility.... like some people are told they have a really high chance of getting breast cancer...then yes I would......

A former work colleague was married to a girl who had a voluntary double masectomy, almost all female members of her family had either succumbed to breast cancer or at some stage had breasts removed. I recall a sister had committed suicide a few years earlier because she was unable to cope with the stress of knowing that she was "almost certainly" going to have breast cancer.
As I have two daughters the thought is very chilling.

Depends on age and if i had , had all the kids i wanted etc. But under 35 i dont think i could. Over 45 a definite maybe

Also if you c cup or smaller, be easy to buy falsies etc, but as my bazzokas are GG, my boobs are very much part of the person i am

If I was told there was a high chance of getting breast cancer I would without a second thought.

As it is I'd love a reduction but waiting until I'm sure I don't want anymore children as I want to be able to breastfeed them.

i think if i had a history of cancer in the family or i was diagnosed with indications i would get it i would seriously consider it.

Its very personal - and i expect no one will really know how they would decide until it actually happens to them.

Hope no one on here has to make that decision.

No, not unless there was a clear reason for doing so.

Sounds a lot like Becky Measures a presenter on our local radio (peak 107). Her family had a rate of high occurence so she was tested for the gene and revealed the test results live on air, she had the gene and had a double masectomy, brave girl and she does a lot for the genesis breast cancer
appeal.

For that Becky I salute you!

I love boobs, but I love life even more.

if i was at high risk family history etc then without hesitation i would but i do understand some people have a strong connection with their breasts but i had mine reduced and to me they were just and still are just lumps of flesh

I haven't got any, I'm like a stick..!!! But if I had then No I wouldn't give them up unless I'd been diagnosed with cancer, Their mine and I might get ran over tomorrow anyway. No guarantee your going to get cancer, If I did get it then I'd deal with it one step of the time.

However I'd be happy for my wife to give hers up, If that was her decision, I love her with or with out her boobs, Although yes I'd miss them, I'm a boob man and love boobs but I love my wife, Not just her boobs.

Given the end result, there is only one real choice....... if you're being sensible.

Try asking the guys if (given the choice between life or death) they would cut off the old chap - if it meant it would save their lives !

Firstly congrats for staying on topic :)

I'm not sure tbh, i know a girl whos mum had breast cancer and her aunty and her grandmother and the other before that so she was told very very high risk and would she have the op she said no. That was her choice, she wanted to wait and see if she caught it, fair enough she was only in her young teens when asked. Maybe now her views have changed?

How about you LLM? X

You wouldn't feel alive without your breasts?! That's crazy... there's more to life than breasts!!

If I was at a very high risk of breast cancer (as verified by DNA tests), I'd have mine removed. My priority would be to stay alive and well for my family.

yes, without a doubt. cancer is a curse and if something like this was put to me in my "real life" - then yes
#26
Only if she actually had it/was going to get it. I wouldn't suggest it "just in case", otherwise no women would have (natural) boobs, and fellas wouldn't have nuts. The human race would die out.

My gf has awesome boobs....

untl you are actually in this situation you will never truley be able to answer. A lot of you say they are only lumps of flesh.......however the psychologicall hurdles that many women face after a masectomy is that of not feeling like a woman anymore.........I have had scare after finding a lump last year and the thought of losing a breast was the 1st terrifying thought I had. My sister has just undergone breast surgery to remove cancer and I know she was terrified of losing her whole breast.........lets all hope to God that we never have to face this difficult, personal choice.
