My wife's watch stopped working today (battery probably), so started to look around for a watch. I've noticed interesting thing - it is almost impossible to find inexpensive (up to 100 quid) ladies watch with day/date display, waterproof and good looking. Any two of these are easily achievable, but not all of it. I even raised my budget to 200 quid, still no luck.

At the same time I could easily find sub-100 quid mens watches with just about every function known since Adam. Like 3 alarms, worldwide time, scuba diving waterproof, etc...

Why is that? Are ladies simply not interested in watches? Or is one piece of carbon (usually called diamond) is more important than functionality?

When i first read the thread i thought you said your wife had died  i didnt know what i was going to say! thought it was a bit random given the title thread :giggle:

Well, for me, i dont want the date, not bothered about waterproof!

I dont wear watches really but ive got about 5, all of which are gorgeous, but, your correct, us women dont want 753092 gadgets out of our watches :)

Oops. Sorry about my Engrish. Just rephrased it so it won't look that bad.

Anyway, isn't it a bit of a fun when watch can tell time in er.. Alaska? Or store all your PIN codes (and reveal them only when you enter master password, which of course forgotten).. Or to have 3 alarms per each day, automatic adjustment to Summer/Winter time, etc?

LoL only men like gadgets like that (well mostly) we go for what it looks like and what it will match

But wouldn't it be nice if that ultra-super-high-tech watch would match that techie lady selected for her party? :)

I get her something with diamonds every year.

Yes, that Tag Heuer looks very nice.
Meanwhile, I decided to get her some simple watch for everyday use. It is Citizen, no need for battery and 5 years warranty.

So problem is solved in short term. Now need to look for something a bit more elegant :)

I normally just taking my wife to shopping centre and telling her to choose whatever she wants. In 99% of cases we return home empty-handed. :)

Well I wasted a fortune buying my lady an expensive watch that she hardly wears...she prefers the free Accurist one which came as part of a credit card intoductory offer.

That one you've bought Kommunist is the practical approach which is what I should have applied..you live and learn.

Well... woman's soul is a mystery. My wife is now very happy about the new watch :) Especially because it needs no battery, eco-friendly (it uses energy of light) and such.. And wjem I offered her to buy something more fashionable she rejected it because she really likes this particular one. You live you learn..
This Citizen is now went back to store to adjust the bracelet.
Sorted! :)
