Heres the deal-as a Christmas surprise I have booked a family holiday at disney paris,we need to head to the airport at 7am on monday 28th december and will be there for new year in the park which is an amazing night.

Now,I have a plan to not reveal this to anyone, including my wife until boxing day at the dinner table. I have been convincing myself this will be great fun but the doubts are starting to creep in about whether mrs barky will be mad since that leaves very little time to get the suitcases packed for 4 children and ourselves.

On top of the stress of organising a family christmas this may not go down as well as I had first thought-should I tell her now,but still keep the secret from the children? Would you be delighted to have 24 hours notice to organise clothes, swimming costumes, possibly have to buy warmer jackets etc for 6 people?

obviously there is no way I could start packing stuff as its gonna give the game away-I am desperate to keep this a surprise but maybe mrs barky wont appreciate the late notice?

Why not tell everyone on Christmas Eve?
#3
Why not do a card or something (maybe a toy Mickey with a note attached) and give to your family as a Christmas present?

PS, did you not just come back from Disneyland Paris very recently?

Tell them all on Xmas day.

It's an extra present & will also give Boxing day to get everything sorted (family event, all will be excited & everywhere is open Boxing Day these days).

I think your spidey senses are true... especially as you have all those kiddies!

Make her a lovely breakfast on the 223rd/24rd and tell her you have a lovely surpise for her..... but you think she may KILL you for it....

She'll be dreading what you've done!!

Then you tell her you booked a secret holiday for all of you because you had such a fantastic time last time and you LOVE being with her.....

Once she's got over the shock then mention the dates....

I think she'll be shocked, surprised, stressed and pleased in turn..... lol

Good luck babes xxx

#~I would tell her on xmas eve and kids boxing day xxx
#15
I would prefer to be told on Christmas Eve and tell kids on Boxing Day, Great pressie to give though :)
#16
Tell your wife this very minute and then the two of you can keep it secret from the kids until the 27th night or even on the way to the airport.

Long ago we didn't tell our kids they were going for a holiday to Florida - they thought we were going on a big shopping expedition. It was such a brilliant moment when we told them.
#17
Tell her now, trust me, she won't appreciate last minute notice. It will be fun for you to drop hints to the kids then. You can scheme together lol.

I would hate being told last minute.

You could even tell the kids they are going somewhere, but make it somewhere boring. lol
#18
Tell her on Christmas Day, as a present like others have said. Tell her to hit the sales on Boxing Day and you'll have the packing finished by the time she gets back.
#19
I would rather know NOW!!! But then my OH wouldn't think about stuff to buy. Would you need to buy stuff or do yiu have everything. Packing can be done boxing day but shopping aswell??!! Too much to organise!! I would tell her now so she can plan. Even better if you say you'll do the packing....Have fun...I'm soooo jealous

thanks for all replies-Im getting the message maybe I better tell her then, but still keep it from the kids. In my saner moments,I knew I would probably need to do this-lol-kids really will need warmer jackets for late nights in the park,hats/gloves/scarves etc and It cant really be done in a day.

You too...thought it was just my OH!!!

It also needs to be before xmas eve as that will be too late to get stuff

I'd want to know on Christmas Day.

Can you get something disney related and wrap it up? Something silly like a brochure for disneyland? :)

I wouldn't tell the kids where you going. Leave them work it out for themselves! Good fun!
#27
Hi wot a lovely suprise!!!

I actually work there over new year as I look after coaches of people there so I would say dress up really warm as there is a lot of walking, queueing and hanging around for the fireworks and parades!!!

It is so magical tho so have a fab time xxx

Ring them all and tell them on New Years eve at the end of the parade. :w00t:

I'd do it during Xmas Dinner. :)
