Check hdmi settings, one tv i had displayed perfect automatically while another needed me to manually switch the hdmi settings from STB to PC before it displayed in full

I've just tried that mate, made the picture a little less pixelated but it still doesn't fit :(

On the TV change the AR to fill/just scan - or change the laptop settings to match that of the TV

Just to add, the Samsung is 40" and the LG is 42"

What graphic card does the laptop have, or is it an Intel GMA? Just wondering what options might be available to you.
Do the two large screens have different resolutions?

You using the right HDMI, LG have one specifically for PC use, normally HDMI 1 but it will say DVI next to it, also set the input label to PC (in the TV settings).

I am using a basic hdmi cable that works with the samsung ?

Woooosh as you don't read my reply properly and it goes straight over your head.

ARE YOU USING THE RIGHT HDMI SOCKET ON THE TV, ONE IS LABELLED FOR PC USE, INDICATED BY IT SAYING DVI NEXT TO IT.

haha, what an idiot, sorry about that mate ... and i have just checked and i was using the right one :) thanks

check underscan/overscan options on gfx card driver software/ make sure to use nvidia/ or ati full driver and not just the built in vista one* and do the same on tv. it might be listed as 1:1 pixel mapping on tv or simply just over/underscan.

*it might still allow you to change on the driver provided for you by op system
