Do you have vista installed on the external drive? need some more info, what happens with the disk drive?

the external drive is brand new, has nothing on it but obviously now it doesnt load up i cant do anything with it.

im not sure what happened with it, it just stopped working, when i put a disk in it doesnt recognise anything is in there

when you turn the laptop on do you get a toshiba screen?? can you access the bios?? if you can and the HD is not listed then youre HD has packed in, some laptops come with secret partitions in the HD tht u can use to restore the laptop, this will only work if the HD is not broken i dnt know how to access that partition on a toshiba though, if you can acces the HD assuming its working theres a chance you can restore it

the toshiba screen loads up. i have assessed the bois, HD is there but you still cant do anything.

the disk drive and lazer is broken so my bf tells me so a new hard drive is needed.. apparently!

if the HD is listed in the bios then the HD is working, after the toshiba screen what happens does it go to a blank screen, does it say anything, a similar thing happened to me on my acer laptop the other week i had to acces a hidden partition on the HD to restore it
