VGA only according to Sony's site. So either you need a VGA port on your TV, a DVI-I port and a VGA>DVI-I converter or it gets complicated....as VGA is analogue and HDMI is digital

Not possible unfortunately.Hdmi cable would only work with a laptop with either HDMI or DVI,

As above, afraid no HDMI slot so no simple solution. Convertor looks expensive. Might have to come off the wall if you want to link it up

Would something like this work? I think it should but not sure.

Not unless there's a DAC (well technically speaking an ADC) hidden in there somewhere. Which there wont be, as a proper converter doesn't come cheap.

You will surely not get any sound as VGA doesn not carry sound. This connector MIGHT just give you the video. You may have to connect audio lead separately. I am just guessing.

(I have connected my laptop to TV through VGA (VGA to VGA) and separate audio leads)

Not a chance, it doesn't alter the fact that the VGA port will output an analogue signal and the HDMI port on the TV requires a digital signal......it's like a bit like speaking French to a man that only speaks Chinese and expecting him to understand, you need a translator in the middle.

It's like buying a telephone from China and then expecting to be able to understand someone speaking Chinese through it.

Anyone can put whatever plugs they like on a cable just like you can have whatever numbers you want on a telephone but unless the two ends are speaking the same language not much will happen.
