Yesterday my laptop just went off, now it won't even turn on or recongising the power lead or anything, any advice, as I need this working.

Thanks, student in need, has coursework on it and coursework that needs to be done.

Try taking out the battery and see if it will power on just from the adaptor. If it will then putting the battery back in should now work. Also check the plug...

the same happened to my last week turned out it was a faulty mouse

so if you have anything usb connected to it take it out wait a while mines took a few hours of trying to turn it on but it did eventually come on

Depends how old it is. My guess is the the power supply is faulty - have you got a multimeter to check there's power coming out? Are there any LEDs on anywhere? Could be that it's on but crashed with a blank screen? Hold down the power button for 5 secs just in case

Well I'll try when I get home as I've left over night, no cables are plugged in.

Thanks though

My laptop has a tendency to burn out power leads, not very technical, but have you tried waving the wire around to see if a light comes on. Failing that, i bought myself a new power cable. May be cheaper to check the fuse in the plug first though.
