We are in need of a working PC, We dont play proper computer games on it, Just use it for browsing the wed, Ebay, Facebook, just normal day to day sites.

But the PC is left on majority of the day due to me being stay at home mum in weeks and while I work at weekends hubby is home on it.

So Now not sure if to go for Laptop (will it wreck a laptop being left on all day using mains? )
Or Desktop.

Couple of links in next post of 2 items, which would you say would be best suited money wise and for what we need it for?

Does it just sit with the mains plugged in? It would be turned off each night, but PC was always on morning till night even if not in use.

Hubby thinks laptop is the way ahead! But the finger thing bugs me on this netbook, saying that Im sure Its just a thing of getting used to it after having PC for so long!

Pretty much :) It's plugged in overnight and most of the day but I unplug it if I move around :P

I only really had the option of a lappy, no room for deskptop :(

We have a desktop, laptop and a netbook and we have had the desktop switched off for a few weeks now and tend to just use the laptop and occassionally the netbook and we have really noticed a difference in the amount of electricity we have been using ( a lot lot less !) since we havnt had the desktop on ! as like you it was on 24/7, also you are not restricted to the one place with a laptop, it was lovely sitting in the sun at the weekend browsing the internet, cant do that with a desktop !

Oooh glad you got netbook too, I find this netbook crashes on facebook games, and is so much slower generally from desktop. Is a full size lap top as slow as the netbook?
My hubby likes a laptop due to the space we can save without having a tower, monitor and the rest that come with a desktop

Is this laptop worth the money too?

If by the 'finger thing' you mean the touchpad, I don't like them either. I use a laptop plugged in most of the time, so I can move rooms if I want, and I use a wireless mini-optical mouse with it that I can carry round.

How old are you children? Where I work we get a lot of people who's kids have dropped the laptop, spilt drinks over it etc.

Any half decent laptop will be able to run facebook games unlinke a netbook. With any laptop should be able to do the basic day to day tasks such as web browsing.

Take it you didn’t get your machine up on its feet again :-D

I have a little Dell Zino HD, as you were debating between the Desktop and Laptop this is why I will suggest it, it is a Desktop with laptop components, low power consumption and all that.

Here is mine, I love it for its size, I have a laptop and gaming machine also, but find now that I only really use the we dell.

Here is mine (Screen is a Dell 23" that I got of a Hotdeal :) )

They are 6, 5 and 2, so all at the age to damage one pretty easy really

They are in no way overly powerful, at the time I went for the bigger spec with the AMD X2 6850E processor, I use it for Internet, Movies and pics and stuff, not much in gaming.

I just wanted something small and neat that looked good and functioned well enough, so it done the job :)

It was either that or the Mac mini. I am gonna buy an ipad aswell, even though I have no need for it, just want one :)

yes i agree, netbook is slightly slower, but laptop is super fast ! only had it about 3 weeks and impressed with it , got everything a desktop has and even printing is not a problem as once drivers are installed for printer it recognises printer as soon as you put usb in , or you could go wireless of course
