OK, so are you saying that only the top or bottom layer of a dual layer disc is readable after you burn them?
Can they be read in the drive that burnt them?
#4
What software do you use to burn discs and do you verify afterwards?
banned#5
silly question, but you have actually bought DUAL layer disks?
#6
Right layerbreak setting?

Your choice of media is poor.

Your laptop drive does not really support them this is indicated by the 3x write speed which is not a valid one for that media.

Get some Verbatim 2.4x MKM-001-00 (43562)

Before that though update the drives firmware http://www.firmwarehq.com/download_1142-file_TSL632H_TO03.zip.html it may help you in burning those particular disc's you have..but they are poor and are an inconsistent media (dye)

make sure there is no disc in tray and tray is closed.

If there is a read me included in the above download please read it as It may tell you to open tray to flash that particular drive (very rare but I have seen it included in instructions)

Also the waiting for buffers..in log.. defrag your hard drive also check it for errors (just file system ones) do not use the I/o subsystem whilst burning eg saving files, virus scanning , scheduled scans etc. actually whilst burning on a laptop drive it would be better to not use laptop at all.

Finally VERIFY the burn with you having a laptop drive once it ejects at end of writing stage you will need to push drive tray back in for verify

Thanks very much for your help, i will give the things suggested ago.

I have never had any problems with my media choice before, always used gigatain dual layer and had really good results which is confusing.

However i will try the things you have said then i will change my media.

Looking at the log, you're not verifying the write. Just because a disc completes a burn, does not mean it's written correctly. You need to verify your write to ensure it compares 100% against the image file written. You can verify as a separate task (as long as you have the same image file) and I bet it fails at the layerbreak - typically the place it always fails on bad media.

I would have to say that it's more than likely the media being used. (RICOHJPN-D01-67). Stick to Verbatims!

Yes thats correct, when copying the disk to the 360 hdd it normally always stops at 47 - 49%

You should be looking at 2.4x MKM 001- 00 re-order 43562 (hard to come across now) T003 WS of 2.4x

MKM-003-00 are the other ones you could try (some older writers do not liek them and have no WriteStrategy for them other than a generic one) re-order (43666) T003 does have a write strategy for them @ 2.4x -- 4x --- 6x (no 8x though)

play £9.99 for 10 http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/7871837/Verbatim-43666-DVD+R-8x-Dual-Layer-Disc-10-spindle/Product.html
