I'm sure if you change the DVD software you can change the region....

Use AnyDVD or you should be able to change the region on the player 3/4 times in it's lifetime, to do this:
(Right Click My Computer -> Select Properties -> Click Hardware Tab -> Select Device Manager -> Expand DVD\CD-ROM Drives -> Right Click DVD Drive -> Select Properties -> Click DVD Region Tab -> Select United Kingdom From List -> Click OK)

Hope It Helps :)

I would use VLC media player from http://www.videolan.org/vlc/. Its free and will play any dvds whatever the region code. Tts also great for divx/xvid videos as well if you ever use them.

Great recommendation, saves so much hassle with DVDs and most video files - any video file I have trouble with VLC will normally play.

You can make most PC or laptop DVD drives region free with updated firmware from sites such as The Firmware Page.

http://forum.rpc1.org/portal.php

This requires some PC knowledge because you can trash the drive if it's not done properly though instructions are given.

The advantage is the drive is permenately region free.

just got this here in thailand

http://www.dvdidle.com/dvd-region-free.htm
only cost me a couple of quid

managed to buy both prison breaks on region 4 for just under £30 for the pair and got it sorted.

i think u can use the dvd 5 times before it gets locked if you don't make it region free
