Hi i have a 2 month old samsung and have noticed at times the screen will flash balck for a split second,at first i thought it was a one of but it happens most times when using it,id say it happens like 2 or 3 times a day,it happens even when the machine has only been on a few min so i dont think its a heat problem,i always have the laptop plugged into the mains, could it be the lead?id like to get it sorted but am worried that if samsung take it back that it will take ages to diagnose as it doesnt happen that often.what do you guys think i should do?thanks

think this is something to do with a slight pinch of the cable going to the screen. send it back!
just noticed when i plug the cable in to the back of the laptop and then pull it out the screen will quickly flash then too.
did you have this problem only recently or you had this problem since the day you got your laptop?
to be honest i dont remember seeing it within the first month, about 3 weeks ago i called samsung and they said try reinstalling vista but the prob is still there
i take it you got vista?

try this

1. Disable TMM
This tweak is responsible cutting system start time 3-5 seconds and eliminating that blank screen flash when you start Vista. This normally occcurs when Vista searches for external monitors on startup of Vista. If you are not using an external monitor, or dont switch back and forth always...turn TMM off.
Here's how to fix that annoying black flicker on boot:
1. Go start/control panel/administrative options/task scheduler.
2. On the left-hand side, click "Task Scheduler Local" (you should already be there, but just in case).
Expand "Task Scheduler Library," then "Microsoft," then "Windows," then click "MobilePC."
Up top, you'll see a task called "TMM." Click it, and on the right-hand side, click "Disable."
If you use an external monitor occasionally as I do, just press and hold FN and press F8 twice to switch monitors.

it might have something to do with Vista UAC as well... but if you have formatted and reinstalled Vista then it's probably a hardware issue.
Try running a live version of linux, to see if the problem is with vista.
at the moment im trying the laptop with out it being plugged in to the mains and so far it hasnt flashed, wondering if its the conection on the laptop
Mine does it, dont worry about it, i think you'll find it does it when when its trying to load something or when hard drives working. Dont worry about it
