Right so i have my laptop plugged into my new 42 inch samsung...via VGA cable...how do i get sound from laptop through tv as well, what lead do i need?

Hmm, you will need to take a feed out of your headphone socket and hope that there is an audio input somewhere on the back of your TV!

What I would do if there isnt is get hold of a SVideo converter for the VGA port if they exist, and then use it together with some phono cables and plug into the back of a scart socket on the TV.

Thats assuming the TV has phono inputs, I have a modern samsung flat panel, and it wont take an independant sound source while showing the VGA channel.

I believe the VGA part of a tv is purely for use as a monitor. You may need to use an external sound source, like a surround sound system.

I was going on the vast majority that did, the other solution would still require a similar cable.:)
