It depends on what your laptop and your telly has. The most common way of going from laptop to TV is by plugging one of the little S-Vid to Phono adaptors into the laptop, and running a normal co-ax cable between it and the input of your TV. Use a 3.5mm to Stereo Phono cable to connect your laptop's headphone output to the TV's phono audio inputs, and you're sorted.

It's also possible to get an Svid to Scart cable, or to do the above method but use an adaptor to take the vid and audio phono lines and turn them into SCART. Check out Maplin.

Really need to know what TV you have - if it's a high defintion TV you don't want to be usng s-video/composite, VGA is a much better choice.

Have a look at this adapter £4.40, you might find it cheaper somewhere else tho' :)

Check your TV and laptop connections first. If you have VGA, that is definitely the way to go with a 3.5mm jack connection for audio if you have it.

I recently bought a ten metre s-video cable online (ebay) for about £5, you can then pick up a scart adaptor in any market for a couple quid, which usually as well as the standard option to connect the w/y/r cables has an s-video cable section. That is what I'm using for my PC :)

EDIT: do you have a graphics card in your laptop with an s-video port?

Or as another possibility... Does your laptop have a DVI port?
I connect mine up to the TV using a DVI cable with a HDMI adaptor at the TV end.
