I quite like the look of the new dell studio laptops and am considering wether or not to go ahead and get one. However, it all depends on what i'd be likely to get from the one i currently have and that's where i'me stuck. Has anybody any advice on the value of a laptop with this sepc.

Dell Inspiron 640m
Roughly 18 months old ALTHO in that time it has had these new parts - screen hinge, DVD RW drive, keyboard, trackpad/mouse and fan. The laptop is in great condition and runs great.
Vista home premium
battery life of roughly 2 hours
Intel Core 2 Duo T5300 @1.73 GHz processor
2 GB memory

anything i've missed?
Any help most appreciated :)

you say it runs great but from the list of new parts it sounds like it hasnt been running great and my experience with laptops is when one thing goes there is normally more follow, especially as it has had a new fan which make's it sound like it has been overheating and that is never good in any pc and espeically laptops as there is many places for the extra heat to go.

but as for a price for a second hand machine, i wouldnt pay anymore than £150 especially as i could buy a nice small netbook with a 3 warranty for an extra £100

To be honest, i've never had a problem with the actual running of the laptop at all. The fan was the bearings had gone, making it noisy, it still worked fine but was irritating, hence why i got it changed :)
Useful hearing what people reckon tho

the problem is that computer technology is moving on all the time and getting cheaper and cheaper and therefore you can normally buy a brand new for not much more, and if you look around these forums there are loads of these little netbooks floating around £200 - £300 mark and then if you want something a bit bigger well they are start at sub £300 and for your spec just over £300 and for a bit of extra money i would rather have the piece of mind of the warranty.

Maybe you can get more that the £150 i said (i am very tight when it comes to money) but personally i would'nt pay more than that but then again i know what i want from a computer and i know how much that should cost me but if you put in your local paper than i am sure someone who does not all that much would pay a bit more.
