sounds like HDD failure (If you get NTLDR no OS error)

try removing battery & power supply completely for a few minutes

I would also say the HDD is faulty. Also OP I hope you don't have Children if this how angry you get when not in control ;-/
#4
do you have any usb flash drives plugged in
#5
Remove the hard drive and re-insert making sure its firmly seated, it could be as simple as that, otherwise violent movements and hard drives are a bad combination.

tried reinerting the ram....went off then reinstalled it and it came back to where i started

think it may be buggered....even the laptop repair guy amde his excuse saying he only does data recovery uaually and it could be a few weeks til he can fit me in.....(fobbed off for sure...too difficult)

no mate ,,,nothing!!

i seen that advice when i did a google search ...cheers tho

any experts around? (not just the google ones.....thats easy)
#11
have you tried another HDD ?
#12
is it as simple as taking two hard drives out and swapping them for another two?

ive got 2 toshiba 200gb inside the vaio atm...... but have a new wd 500gb and a samsung 640gb knocking about..
#13
Best solution? Sell it to me to tinker with.

Or just send it to me free! (i'll pay postage) LOL
#14
postage from here would be expensive......

also its got blu ray burner and T8100 so its worth fixing rather than replacing

damn gonna have to take to repair man then

Stick a windows 7 dvd in and use the repair windows option in there. Has never failed me.

Even with a dead hard drive? Didn't realise Win 7 was that good!
#21
mumbojumbo
Try cloning the drive onto a new one. Chances are the data is still intact.

Have you read the thread it looks like by hitting the laptop it has killed the drive so it wont be intact, not in anyway that is recoverable without expert knowledge.
#22
see if it will mount when booting from a linux disk

or get some kind of boot cd (e.g. ultimate boot cd) and run one of the hdd diagnostic tools to see if it'll read it at all. If it's not even reading it, looks like it'll just be a case of replacing it

Just wow. Have you ever had a corrupted hard drive?

Corrupt is one thing, I dont think thumping a hard drive causes the bits and bytes stored within to spill all over the place, its hardly a box of tic tacs, corrupt and fuschia'd are two entirely different things.

To quote OP :
"after losing it ang banging mi laptop several times it went off"

"ive tried the disc but i only get the message that no os can be found so cant restore......nor will it let me reinstall at all "

trust me, its not the hd the mobo has been damaged

static to be precise
#26
dcx_badass
Lol, you talk rubbish, the banging it will not have caused static damage to the mobo, or even damage to the mobo, especially as it still boots. It's absurd that you claim the mobo is damaged (no evidence of this), but to say it was static is absolute BS, you couldn't claim it was static if you had it sat in front of you, nevermind over the internet.

...Yeah, basically.

Don't be a douch.....

Static caused by the banging- mobo not reading the hd

Simple, primary school stuff.

You can drop a hd from a building it will more than likely still work.

Fancy a £100 bet its a mobo fault? obviously op needs provide proof of repair quote

Catch ya later sucker

Banging it possibly killed the hard drive, especially if it was turned on at the time.

WheresMeNuts

The Hint was in the replies :-)

OP I don't see what the problem can be now if all you have to do is install the drivers. If you can't find the Drivers then post the Make/Model of laptop & I'm sure someone will give you the address for the Drivers.

dcx_badass
Oh, whats that, I was right? Mental.Anyway moving on, do you have access to another PC with sata? Or you could buy a £3 enclosure from ebay and connect them via usb and see how it goes.

got enclosure ......whts best softwre to try? used the seagte tools but wouldnt let me scan with nything other thn the generic test which comes bck clean
#31

#33

#34

there is a glimmer of hope!
#35
ok seems to have found a lot of files but i used an unregistered version so cant do nothing with them

also my 2 drives are showing as 1 ....raid 0? 387gb total even though there are 2 x 200gb hard drives and only 1 200gb connected
