I would give Argos a ring, do you have receipt or proof of purchase, they might fob you off with take it to manufactures, but try them first

Owness *should* sit with the supplier, but I have suspicions that they will tell you to contact Acer. As bernyrabbit says, call Argos first.

do try to leave it on charge for a day sometimes the battery comes back to life and make sure it isnt thw charger thats the problem, they have an internal sealed fuse

its down to argos as you bought it from them its down to them to repair it, before you return it remove the hard drive as they may wipe it

could it not also be faulty charger, or faulty socket. does the laptop work with charger plugged in and battery removed

i have to fiddle about with the charger for it to charge, im thinking now it could well be the charger socket

I had the same problem with my dell mini and the answer was to leave it on charge overnight. By all accounts if you let the battery drain too much it goes into a precharge state and requires 12 hours of charging for the battery to relearn.

if the charger socket has started to come away from the board inside, they may throw it back at you by saying its physical damage caused by neglect or misuse.
or
it may be a documented fault with that particular one.

if you don't phone argos faults/repairs, you'll not know.

either way they'll wanna take it from you and check it hasn't been abused

If you want Argos or Acer to repair this, it has to be in its original condition. Please dont take anything out of it, ie, harddrive! they will just not touch it if you have tampered with it. If you are worried about losing stuff on hard drive, download it to another pc or external hard drive. Good luck!

Whenever you're returning items such as this, the shop may decide to put it in for repair and then return it to you, or they may refer you to the manufacturer who may decide to try to repair it too. They should only keep the machine a 'reasonable' amount of time, so it may be 14 or 28 days. As the laptop seems to have run ok upto now, it's likely that they will look for the fault and return the laptop fixed or replace it.
PS always back up everything you need before you hand it over. The first thing that usually happens is formatting (yes, even when there's no need)

If this is an Acer One then you need to update the bios - i know this as i have bought four my my nephews. Two of them developed the same problem and its a common fault.
