Las Vegas!

Hi everyone, I am quite new to the site and have noticed how everyone is so friendly and willing to help.

My Nan wants to go to Las Vegas in October as it will be the first anniversary of my Grandads death and i get the feeling she doesn't want to be in the same place as where it occured etc. I want to try and book some flights either from any London airport or Birmingham or the East Midlands if they fly there.

The date isn't a problem as she is really flexible, she was thinking maybe 5-7 days. Any suggestions where to start? Obviously the cheaper the better. Also if anyone could recommend hotels and places to go that would also be great.

Sorry for the huge ask, i would just like to try and make this a special memory for her as she has had a tough year.

Thanks

i went a year ago, booked my flights through expedia, not a bad price £369 each - and then i booked my hotel direct (tropicana) - we actually phoned the hotel and spoke to the reception and got the rooms for $30 a night..... less than half price on package holidays to vegas. Shop around for flights but i would suggest trying to contact the casino's/ hotels direct. hope this helps!

Ah thanks that sounds pretty reasonable, can you remember where you stayed by any chance?
Am having a look around at the moment but other than putting in loads of random dates i don't know how to see the cheapest avaliable flights

Best thing to do to start is buy a day ticket for the Deuce double decker buses which run the whole length of the strip. Tickets are $5 for the day and you can hop on and off and they are brill to see the whole length of the strip including FREEMONT STREET Which is a fantastic light show down there every 15-30 mins depending on season. In the casinos here you can get a 99cent shrimp cocktail which are so famous and also cocktails for a $1!!!
The bus also goes to the outlet shopping mall but you have to change at the bus station which is not a problem its about 15 min ride out of Vegas just passed the Four Seasons hotel and passed the world famous Vegas sign, Its a great way to see the whole place and you can hop off and on wherever you like. The mall has loads of bargains!
She can also take a helicoptor or plane ride over the Grand Canyon which is ace and Maverick Helicopters also do a 10min ride over the strip at night for $60 including bubbly, its brill.
Hoover Dam is a must also as you gotta see it to believe it.
Most hotels are mini cities on their own and have lovely shopping malls but the cheapest is the outlet mall.
She must go see the Fountains at Bellagio preferably at night as they play to music and its lovely, I can sit and watch them all day and if you have dinner in the Paris hotel you could actually have dinner whilst watching the fountains!
Look out for free offers in booklets they have in hotels for money off vouchers and bogofs as they can save you a fortune, find these also at ticket booking places.
I stayed at Tropicana and they have 2 huge one armed bandits you have one free pull a day to win prizes but my mate and I went to both day and night and won all the free tickets to all the shows in Tropicana!
You are able to wonder around all the hotels and casinos and remember when you play the machines, including the 5cent ones your drinks are free if you can find a waitress! If you tip them a small amount they will come find you again, although most waitresses will hang around the more expensive slots so you could just sit at one there and catch her eye!
Well I think thats enough for now but if you need any more info let me know.
I found teletext a good site and they were doing 7 nights at circus circus for £499 inc flights.
I think Virgin is the only site who do direct flites at the mo, most change in Chicago or Washington Dulles.

Does she want me to carry her bags?
All hotels are room only basis unless you can find one to include breakfast

Went there for my honeymoon in July, it was awesome! Truly amazing.

I recommend seeing some shows as well. "O" at the Belagio is the best!

Problem with the Duece bus is that it was always full when we tried to get on, so me and the Mrs ended up walking the strip and visiting each hotel as we went along.
