What is the best way of improving the picture on an LCD tv?
Im still getting pixelation and it isnt as good as my 10 year old CRT! Even though it is the Panasonic tx26lxd70.
I have a seperate Digibox with hard drive. New cables? Will they make a difference?
Thanks!

Depends on the source. Digital free view is fairly low quality. You need SKYHD or Freesat HD to reap the benefits. If you are playing games systems, make sure you use HDMI, or at a push, component video

sorry thats just how lcd is with std/freeview sources, will never be as good as crt, lcd only good with HD sources really.

So why is everyone raving about LCD's then?
This one got a huge score with WHICH.
Why don't they just make CRT's still?
Is freesat now available for everyone?

well tbh most threads over at avforums dont, they all complain about ghosting/smearing and lag etc, but with good HD sources there not to bad, the reason they dont make crt's anymore is commercial really, cheaper to make lcd screens now and there alot smaller to store so less warehouse space, alot easier and cheaper to transpost around, but crts are still made for companys that need the best quality like tv broadcasters and design studios etc and if they do use lcd they use like ezio screens that cost like £5000+ for just 22" screens, my advice wait for oled/sed screens sony just brought out a 11" screen out for like £2000+ i think bit to small thou, but there come down in price soon, and they have the contrast of a crt also.

You just need to set it up properly and make sure your the correct distance from the screen, take no notice of these old farts with their CRTs
Trust me once you get it set up right you will love it, mines only a 37" 720 but its so much better than my old 32" Sony CRT, I'd never go back to yesterdays tech.
They don't make CRTs anymore because people want HD and a nice slim TV instead of a massive lump taking up all the room.
Freesat is available to everyone but you must have a dish outside

Wait till you see TV in HD it's the best :-D

again you following me and got it wrong, the guy is asking about std stuff not HD, and all posters in this thread agree that lcd is not as good at displaying freeveiw/std sources except you, were not wrong, and lcd is not as good as crt fact for displaying this, remember you have old series lcd, my bro has latest series 6 and std freeveiw stuff is not as good, let me make this clear your post is all about HD and he wants better picture for freeveiw, i been into av stuff 25 years, and it was me that set your screen up even you was useing shop settings for ages that says it all, ive seen std on your screen and trust me its not as good as crt, if your going to post/reply in all threads i do please get it right, and on another point freesat is still only std souces so will still be bad on lcd, its freesat HD that gives a few HD channels.

you really should take me off your buddy list and stop tracking me please, i should be flattered really thou.

Yea Chris your my hero  but I have to help people that are being given false info :) and your posts always amuse me
CRT is dead so no point in bring up that the picture quality is better than plasma/LCD every time some one asks for help.
You didnt set my tv up :o I used the settings from AVForums

Oh and Ive been watching tele for 43 years so i think its ok to form an opinion on how good a SD pic can be on my ****** LCD :-D

Liz dont worry you can get a great pic on your tele, BBC SD is fantastic quality

we cant all be wrong in this thread, and all the guys over at avforums say the same, lcd is ok for HD stuff , but for sd stuff crt is better thats a fact, lcd cant display sd sources without the smearing/ghosting etc thats just the way lcd tecknolegy is, i have seen the best lcd we have one of the best in our house, and i have seen sd on your screen, but if your happy thats great.
