Leeds have received permission to play in League One this season after being granted their Football League share but must do so with a 15-point deduction.

The club have appealed against the sanction imposed by the Football League and their case will be heard at a special meeting of all league clubs.

Doubts had been raised over Leeds' future after the club failed to agree a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA).

The Football League accepted there were "exceptional circumstances".

The way things are going I'll be glad for them to finish the season :-(

I think we play them first at ellend road [forest] for the first game of season.

Seeing as leeds dont have a keeper and arn't allowed a free transfer/loan. I'm thinking of a 4 goals or more bet? :giggle:

Sad day for a once mighty team.
Aside from a bunch of mindless fans, and yes many teams have them they're a good bunch of folks over there and i enjoyed my one and only trip to Elland Road.
It's an example of what can happen to your club when the money men get bored and i for one am not entirely over the (blue) moon with Sven playing Fantasy Football at City

I look back at your squad, Robinson battling with Nigel Martyn, Kelly at fullback, Rio and Radebe perhaps centre halves, then Milner, Bowyer, Smith, Marco Viduka (i have to call him Marco cos of the guy who used to do fanzone on sky for leeds, he was very funny), Kewell before he became the new Darren Anderton.

Was an awesome squad, just hope Master Bates doesn't make a mess

Nothing lasts forever.
I remeber being at Layer Road, Colchester, watching City in what was then the 1st English pay-per-view football game, in what would have been, the old 3rd Division, League 1 as it is now.
Full house, and The Goat scored :)
Leeds' time will come again soon......

Yep. I'm old enough to remember Man UTD being relegated

Same year Leeds won the League Championship and where in the Euopean Cup final :)

Good start then for Leeds, only 12 more points to recoup :)

Jermaine Beckford struck a minute from time to snatch victory for Leeds and take his side to within seven of a positive points total in League One.

It is now three League One wins out of three for Dennis Wise's side as they bid to wipe out their 15-point deficit.

Tresor Kandol gave the visitors the perfect start when he turned and fired into the far corner, but Kris Commons levelled when his free-kick crept in.

However, Beckford wrapped it up with a neat goal from Jonathan Howson's cross.

:p

yeah, just spotted that as i wait for the 2nd half of our game, must have that seige mentality at Elland Road now - 9 points to go :)
#19
I said that on the principle they had no goal keeper. Which they didnt at the time :giggle:

Leeds boss wins prize for August

Leeds United boss Dennis Wise has been named as League One's manager of the month for August.

Despite starting the season with minus 15 points, Leeds have won all three of their league games, beating Tranmere, Southend and Nottingham Forest.

They also beat Macclesfield in the Carling Cup but lost to Portsmouth.

Also shortlisted for the award were Martin Ling - whose Leyton Orient side also won their first three league games - and Luton's Kevin Blackwell.

Did make me laff when i heard about Dennis getting the award. He said he didn't want it lol, cos of the FA's hypocrisy :giggle:

Leeds 2-0 Hartlepool

Leeds wiped out their 15-point deficit as Dennis Wise's side secured their fifth successive league win.

Tresor Kandol scored his fourth goal of the season with a powerful header after 20 minutes to set Leeds on their way.

Just past the half-hour mark Richie Barker's header hit the crossbar and appeared to cross the line before Leeds goalkeeper Casper Ankergren cleared.

Leeds' second goal came just after the break when Jermaine Beckford exquisitely chipped Jan Budtz.

Stage 1 = complete:
Stage 2 = move out of the relegation zone:
Stage 3 = play offs ?

Forest still favorites for promotion. God knows how they work that out though :whistling:

Forest 5/1 Favorites to win
Leeds 6/1 2nd favorites

The world has gone crazy :)
#25
To be honest, forest could do it - if they actually make the players play better then an under 11 side
#26
leeds won all there games havent they

According to the our Local news (Calender in Leeds) yeah they are the only club in the country to have a 100% win record this season

This season so far It could still all go pear shaped.

Doubt it though.

Leeds have been a decent side and shocked league one I think.
#29
would be great to see them have a unbeaten run

To be fair, you really didn't deserve it.
On another day it could have been 7-2 to us.

You are dreaming. A draw might have been fair.

Some comments from Leeds fans..

"Hartlepool were hard done-by today, they probably should've won, but we scraped a 2-0... somehow. To be fair though, some of Hartlepool's finishing was shocking, could've easily been 6/7-2 if they'd have had more luck and hit the target a couple more times.

ZEEEEEEEEEEEEEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

"If you play like that against every team you'll be in the top 3, you could've/should've easily won today."
:whistling:
#36
I don't really care what some Leeds' fans think.

I watched the game and gave my opinion. You didn't even have 7 decent chances so that score is fiction.

As to the appeal. I doubt it will change but I hope they get promoted dispute the punishment - even if it is by playoffs. Gotta love an underdog.
#37
We didn't have seven decent chances?
Are you an idiot?
We hit the woodwork 3 times, had 4 cleared off the line, had one go over the line & it wasn't given & Antwi missed a sitter at the end.
& the fact that we had 20 shots (10 off target, 10 on) & 10 corners also helps what I was saying.
#38
They are now the bookmakers favourites to win the title, you could have got 33/1 on them at the time of the 15 point penalty.
#39
Bristol Rovers 0-3 Leeds
Jermaine Beckford scored twice as Leeds made it six wins out of six and moved off the bottom of League One.
Beckford put the visitors ahead with a flicked volley from Seb Carole's ninth-minute cross.

Rovers trio Craig Disley, Andy Williams and Lewis Haldane were off target with headers before Tresor Kandol converted David Prutton's cross on 77 minutes.

Beckford's overhead kick made it 3-0 as Leeds scored their first points after wiping out a 15-point penalty.
(Quoted from the BBC )

Nice to see them out of the relegation zone - now time to work there way up the the league!
