Less of a deal, more of a heads up "HMV Re/play"

Forgive me, I don't know where to put this... HMV are, from today, taking pre-owned games and giving you either cashback, or a gift voucher/trade-in for anything in the store. After taking Mario Charged football for the wii into my town centre to check with game, gamestation and cex, I was plesantly suprised that HMV offered me 3x what game and gamestation were offering.
According to the cashier, this only started today, but is going to be a permanant thing
With everyone strapped for cash at the moment, getting rid of a few games, even to get some Christmas money, I thought this might be useful to know
PS: They offer more for games in "mint" condition, so polish up the discs before you go ;)
Thanks!

taking Mario Charged football for the wii

Only needs a price to be posted for the info to be useful.

Does this also include DVD's?

I have a load I would like to trade-in if possible.
#4
is this only at certain stores? not seen any signs for it at my local in preston
#5
Its always good to have another option for trading old games. If they continue the generous prices thats even better.
#6
moved to Misc.

They had cleared some space for second hand games on the shelves at the Merry Hill branch yesterday , so it's almost certainly being rolled out nationally , though possibly not in their smaller stores where space is tight
#8
some brand new games are being sold as preowned to get the ball rolling.
#9
Well ill be damned it finally happened, i first saw this happen in hmv london about 9 months ago, the prices for preowned games were quite dear but am guessing that might of changed a bit now.
#10
how much did they offer for mario strikers football?
#11
The Mario Strikers football got £15 for a trade-in, although I could have got £12 for cash, but I saw another wii game which my son wanted (Grim adventures Billy Mandy on wii) for £13.96, so exchanged, and got the rest on a giftcard.
Couldn't believe Game and Gamestation only wanted to give me a fiver for it!!

PS: My local store only had a whiteboard up outside their store with how they were taking pre-owned games in, no major advertising, so it maybe worth asking if you don't see anything. I did get a leaflet, but it didn't say anything about dvds I'm afraid (more's the pity)

Game and Gamestation are terrible for trade-in prices. I think they must make their money from people who don't bother to investigate other options such as CEX or selling online (and now HMV).

Thanks for posting this tip.

Hi, i work in HMV in Llandudno, we're a really small store and we are doing the trade ins so it is all HMVs. No DVD's though I'm afraid, Games (Wii, PS3, PS3, X box 360 and DS only as far as I know) and Consoles (as Above) only, packaging needed for games, no box needed for consoles, and as someone said before, there are 2 price ranges, a higher price for mint condition so make sure instructions are there and the disc and case are near perfect. Hope this helps.

Bullring HMV Birmingham doing this too. There are leaflets on the counters

Anyone tried Broadmead Bristol branch? I went in there today. Chap I asked about it (after seeing the signs instore) wriggled although I wasn't convinced he was 100% sure what he was chatting about.

The website doesn't exclude this in it's list of non participating stores but it is a rather small outlet.

Will try again tomorrow as I've got a few titles to offload and PES2009 is only £27 this week.

Anybody know the sort of trade in price I might get for an Xbox360?
