Just because the cornflakes weren't to your taste, doesn't mean every own brand product is carp.

Many own brand foods are made by well known brands and just relabelled for the supermarkets.

Most own brand stuff i've tried isn't nice, even when people recommend it,so i don't usually bother as it's a waste.

My sisters dog will be eating these now!

My father used to work in a food prep factory. You would be very surprised at the amount of top branded food is exactly the same as unbranded value supermarket goods. It is surprising what a different label can do

My husband has worked in many factories and says the same, its just the packaging they change for each company.

There's no way these have the same ingredients as Kelloggs:w00t:

If it doesnt say Kellogs on the box, it's not Kellogs in the box.......

Asda's own brand Weetabox are exactly the same, but I would never get any other Cornflakes than Kellogs.

You live & learn :)

Indeed, my BIL worked in a food prep factory, they stopped the line, changed the labels over, and away it all went again.

Kellogs don't make cereals for anyone else - that's part of their slogan, as referred to by ChrisUK above. I've tried supermarket versions of Crunchy Nut cornflakes, and none come close to Kellogs! Many, if not most other supermarket label products are indistinguishable from the branded versions.

I get sucked in every now and again and try something and rarely like it.

I've tried own brand Weetabix, they are ok but you can tell they aren't Nestle,or whoever it is who makes the original.

Yep my dad used to work for sunblest, the farmfoods bread for instance was the same as the normal Sunblest bread, OH worked in a bakery when he was younger, he said that the different food packaging would just get put in the machine and would roll out the same product with different labels.

I myself for instance prefer smartprice sweetcorn to the others.

The marketing people are doing a great job, who pays for all of their marketing hype????

Tesco Value Bran Flakes are identical to the more expensive Light version - but a lot cheaper, and a lot healthier, than other sorts which have more salt and sugar added.

Has anyone else noticed that in some stores Tesco is no longer stocking its Value brands of some products meaning you have to buy the more expensive premium products?

They rolling out Country Foods or Discount Brand in our local Tesco and doing away with the value line.
