I have now had enough with them! Theya re getting toooooo big, they squeeze money out of their suppliers....some of there stuff is actually more expensive then super markets! There petrol is more expensive aswell!!!! I think other supermarkets arnt as bad like Aldi/Lidl. Aldi/Lidl are the cheapest aswell. So....

I reckon...Starting August the 4th.....try to avoid tesco. if there are other supermarkets in your area...try them out. Dont shop there till the end of the week. If everyone did this on HUKD...its a start..then try and spread the word

get to greedy tesco!!!!

whos joining?????

Not me :)
- Titchimp

#6
Yeha i dont have anything against tesco. If you look into it you will find all the supermarkets work in the exact same way
#7
so, why is Sainsbury/ASDA any better?

Perhaps you should communicate this to their staff, and get them to strike!

Sam, no offence but I don't think Tesco's will suddenly collapse around us under the weight of a 16 year old boycotting the store :giggle:

You would probably need at least a million regular Tesco's shoppers for them to even notice!

tescos is cheaper than asda/sainsburys by a long way once you take into account all the HUKD vouchers ;)

Good point...its still worth a try

People were boycotting BP/Esso a few weeks back...we should do the same to Tesco Petrol!:w00t::w00t:

Asda isnt necessarily cheaper and sainsbury is defintely more expensive. I have a flyer the other day from Aldi listing about 30 basic items. Of course Aldi was cheapest, they showed tesco 4 quid more on similiar stuff and both asda and sainsbury were 7 quid more. Now this isnt tesco self promotion this is a rival shop showing tesco in a favourable light.

The price comparison adverts annoy me when they say stuff like tesco has 1500 products cheaper than asda BUt asda has 4000. The point is does it really matter becasue maybe you dont but any of those products. It swings in roundabouts asda is cheaper on some lines tesco on others if you got time shop in both. But i think its unfair to make sweeping comments about cheapness as asda may be cheaper for you but tesco for others just depends what current promotions they have on the stuff you buy.

FACT:
Tesco has enormous power and they've begun to abuse it.
The Guardian calls Tesco a "charmless bully" and a "bad neighbor" who is "generating its own particular brand of loathing." (Read "Shop Tactics" for more)
When the BBC ran a discussion forum on this topic, many people said that Tesco's negative impact on Great Britain has made them decide to stop shopping at the chain.

I take back my comment on ASDA....but maybe go to Aldi???

Other organizations have also spoken out against Tesco.
RFID is just one reason to boycott Tesco. Here are some others:
Friends of the Earth calls Tesco, "the untamed beast" that is "damaging communities, putting local shops out of business, and threatening the livelihoods of many UK farmers."
The "Every Little Hurts" website was set up to protest Tesco's policy of closing community post offices. Previously, many small post offices operated in locally-owned stores which Tesco has put out of business.
Karma Banque critiques "monopolies and monocultures of ideas, information and life, represented by Hollywood, Microsoft, Monsanto and supermarkets," and scolds Tesco for asking publishers to submit their magazines for approval before putting them on sale.
Others are concerned that Tesco has begun outsourcing jobs to India, a practice which contributes to unemployment and causes damage the British economy.

Do you even use petrol? Seems to me like you just want to run a campaign but don't really have a cause!

Agreed. At the end of the day, the best savings can be made by buying the essentials at the right time. I always buy massive amounts of essential items that last a long time; when they come on BOGOF (e.g 200 cans of heinz baked beans worked out at 22p a large can when I purchased, now 58p each, napolina chopped / whole tomates - bought 400 cans at 18p each, now 67p each :w00t: - that is a saving of £200 on my next couple of years shop on 1 item alone!).

With that approach you can easily halve your shopping bill in the long term. of course, you need a large storage area) ;-)

I love Tesco. They've always been cheapest in my area for petrol.
#27
i use petrol....i just want to effect tesco and for them to potentially loose out money if this gets big
#28
400 tins of tomatoes and 200 tins of beans!!! You must have a big kitchen :giggle:

Good point though. The price comparison things are nonsense as I like probably many others tend to only buy what is on special offer then use cheaper shops for the essentials (f+v, milk etc) - all the supermarkets in my area (Tescos, Sains, Morrisons, Asda, M+S, Aldi) have their good points and their bad points...

big garage actually. Its like a tesco express in there lol :-D

wish I'd bought more beans as down to the last 100 now and only bought them a year ago :?

Dont forget to also use the £12 off £80 vouchers when they appear. I had four deliveries in a week for 4 x £80 shops (each one had 99 tins of tomatoes and 50 cans of baked beans and everything else was just BOGOF lol).

Then I do sainsburys with their BOGOF deals. other stuff I buy in the local independent stores as they are generally cheaper for basic food items a lot of the time, especially meat, fish etc.

PLAY THEM AT THEIR OWN GAME. It makes me feel a bit better.

Take note Sam that 'play them at their own game' is decidedly different to 'lets boycott them'... :whistling:

i hate tesco, they are totally arogant sods, but they do have good deals sometimes. Just make sure they make as little profit out of you as possible, use every voucher going!
I don't think you can really say one supermarket is cheaper than another, as there are so many factors ie waitrose offering £15 off £50 at the moment (for delivery) I'm sure would make them cheaper than aldi at the moment!
My local asda stinks of B.O , so i don't want to be too hard on tesco!

PMSL :-D

Is it really that bad? Well amusing!
#34
you do have a point they are much more expensive than others i have noticed this several times, my average shopping bill with tescos is about £125 and when i go to morrisons or asda the same products are under £100 now thats £25 saving they give clubcard points so what they charge a lot more.

yeh i know..its just its negative towards tesco :p
#36
would do but saving the points,if they ever stopped the clubcard i'd change supermarkets though there not the best one around
#37
thats a good point about the clubcard points...think thats why most people use tesco! I have looked for tesco vouchers but can only find vouchers to use online..not instore :?

Is it 1 point for every £1 so in effect 4p in a £1 when spent on the 4 for 1 offers?
