LETS SEE WHO COMES THE CLOSEST: How much do you think Fabregas will end up going to the worlds best team for and who can replace him?

It was inevitable that Fabregas was going to be sold eventually, it just came as a bit of a shock it was going to be so soon, especially after Wenger finally confirmed he was going to sign experience this summer, rather than potential.

Nevertheless, what do you think Arsenal will receive for our most valuable asset after having the season of his life, despite the injuries?

The papers state Wenger has asked for £50m, while some sources suggest £40m has been requested....whereas knowing Arsenals poor negotiation skills, we'll probably get a lot less and lets not forget the fact that Arsenal originally took Fabregas for £2m compensation after being dragged through the courts.

Lets see who comes the closest on the right figure?

EDIT: who can replace him or will Arsene be tight with his money again and let the up and coming players step up lol?

I doubt Arsenal will get "cash only".

It will probably be cash + player exchange.

And the value of a player or players in a player-exchange is dubious.

However as a non-Arsenal fan I say that Fabregas is one of the best players playing for a Premier league team so is worth the same as any of the top players (Ronaldo, Torres, Rooney, Drogba, Lampard etc).

In todays market they SHOULD get 50 million, but who knows.

My guess is Toure + 20 million.

One of my friends thinks we'll get IBO and money now that they're going to sign David Villa for approx £40m.

Arsenal are also interested in the frustrated combative midfielder Yaya Toure to add some steel into our pushover squad during the scrapier games but it remains to be seen how much Barca rate a player for obvious talent but is considered surplus to requirements.

I reckon he will go for £25million and 1 player

who in their right mind thinks that Rooney will also go to Barca for £80mil ?

I think the same, although I'd be annoyed if we ended up getting that deal.

I actually wouldn't mind Henry being thrown into the mix as well to boost the Arsenal fans moral and at least getting a legend back at Arsenal for a season before moving to the states but it seems Henry is going now anyway.

Apparently Barca is lining up an £80m move for Rooney as well but I can't see that happening while having IBO, signing Villa, as well as accomodating arguably the best player in the world in Messi.

Barca is already going to require to shift players around if they are going to play Fabregas, Xavi and Iniesta, as none of them are defensive minded.

Personally I think Fabregas should of stayed a bit longer and waited for Xavi to get a little closer to the end of his career, as it's obvious Xavi is going to prevent him from playing as much as he deserves.

Rooney isn't going....not yet anyway.

There's no way that they'll be able to keep IBO, Villa, Rooney, Messi and Pedro happy and it'll unsettle there dressing room.....plus they're going to be overrun with offensive minded midfield centres that want to play every game as well now that Fabregas is being thrown into the mix, so they definitely will end up being too attacking....it'll ruin there balance.

Despite what a lot of people think, I think Fabregas has been a great servant to Arsenal and in all honesty, if I was a footy player, playing for a team abroad and Arsenal were the best team in the world, declaring there desperate interest in me for years, I think I would eventually go.

It's just a shame that the Barca players keep tapping up our players, just like they did with Henry, which is technically legal, although a very shady tactic, as you can't stop players talking among each other and begging them to join.

One thing that strikes me about this deal is that Barca won the league and strenghten with Villa and Fabregas, I can't wait to see who RM buy given that they were already behind Barca before they signed them two. I expect an earth shattering amount of money to be spent once the special one arrives.

I wouldn't rule out a cheeky bid for Rooney (although I don't think he would go). They certainly aren't going to be outdone by Barca.

Yeah definitely, it's unbelievable that Real Madrid still couldn't win the league with 96 points....they probably would of won the league in any other competition in the world for as long as I can remember but Barca have been unbelievable the last few years.

They definitely won't sit back but with the uncertainty of who will be there next manager, it remains to be seen what will happen, as Mourinho will want more freedom than the previous managers are given in signing who they actually want, rather than the new president making promises of targets....I think Torres would of been the perfect target if he didn't love there local neighbours.

It's just a shame that England had most of the worlds best players but slowly losing them all to teams in Spain and Italy, while not signing superstars from abroad, which probably explains why we weren't as big a force in the champions league this season.

Don't be silly.....we all know that Man City are going to be the champions league winners of 2011

In all honesty if it was any other player he would of gone years ago, he did us great service, all the best to him.

I'm still perplexed as to how, when even my mate's half blind and fully deaf dog has know for a few seasons now arsenal have needed a good experienced goalkeeper and a central striker that, one of the supposed best managers of the last decade or so hasnt noticed

I think Ibrahimovic at Arsenal would be amazing. He'll definitely be leaving Barca as I can't see them playing him and Villa together. Personally I can see him going to Real though to link up with Mourinho again.

I'm secretly hoping we can get him if Mascherano ends up at the Nou Camp though :)

As for Toure, Guardiola favours Busquets and Keita so I can't see him hanging around there much longer.

I couldn't agree more, Almunia seemed to be improving the season before but still wasn't good enough....and last season was just a distaster for him and FLAPiHANDski.

It's a known fact that we apparently tried to sign Sorenson in a last ditch bid on the winter transfer window and then our GKs played even worse, so lets hope Wenger definitely realises we need a replacement and there's a great opportunity at the moment.

We're heavily linked with Buffon but it remains to be seen how much Juve would want for the worlds most expensive GK, while we're also strongly linked with Lloris, who seems a great keeper....but knowing Arsenal....we'll probably sign Robert Green as the "budget option"

I think Arsenal has to show that we're going to replace Cesc with big players, as players feel demoralised every season when we lose our most effective players and replace them with players where everyone says.....who's he? lol
#21
^^^ apparently Liverpool turned down a £14 million bid for Reina. They should sign Hart before someone else does. It's funny how they have gone from putting up with a succession of average keepers to suddenly wanting the best in the world.

The problem with Arsenal (amongst others) is that they will bank the £30-50 million they get for him and not reinvest as Utd did with Ronaldo's transfer fee.

what happens if its undisclosed? No one wins :)
#23
I think it depends if we sell Mascherano to Barcelona. If this happends then it will be £20 million + player exchange (Toure).

I can see IBO leaving Barcelona in the summer so it wouldn't surprise if they make a cheeky bid for Rooney to replace him, especially with Henry leaving.

They won't want Mash and Fab, Villa will replace IBO.

I think if they put Fab in Toure position he will struggle, Mash is a better replacement for Toure. Fab I think would be better in the Iniesta position

Yeah prob right on the Villa replacing IBO, maybe Rooney to replace Henry and play more left side.

I think a midfield/forward line-up of:

------Busquets-------
--Xavi - Fabregas--
Messi--Villa--Pedro

With the likes of Iniesta and Bojan on the bench doesn't really leave room for another big-name attacker - that's the whole reason why Ibra will leave.

If you replace Busquets with Mascherano, it's one hell of a team (they'd be crap from corners though....they're all tiny )

Yeah, Toure and his agent declared he's frustrated and isn't willing to play a bit part at Barca, so he has no choice to leave.

IBO would suit our style of play but I just can't see them getting rid of him for what Wenger would be willing to consider as part of the deal after they spent so much on him....plus there's no way we'd pay his wages lol

I think Wenger will spend some of it....but no doubt, we'll make a profit from the transfers once again this season :x

Yep, I heard about the Reina bid as well but Rafa would no way let him go anywhere while he's still around.
I really would love to sign Buffon....having the worlds best keeper at Arsenal, while we also sign a world class centre back would mean we could REALLY challenge this season providing Ramsey comes back positively from his broken leg and Nasri keeps improving.

I think they could struggle but would just about be able to accomodate IBO and Villa, although there's no way it'll happen if the rumours were true about Rooney....I'd expect Real Madrid to be more realistic in trying to sign him....they like UTD players anyway lol

Fab can never play as the holding midfielder and that'll be a complete waste of his talents, as he's too attack minded, which is why Wenger chose our current formation to give him more freedom going forward.

I think your formation is more likely, although I think Iniesta will play more than Pedro on the left flank and then they'll rotate Fabregas with Xavi at times and pull Iniesta back alongside Xavi.

I think IBO will stay, I'm assuming Pep is looking for 2 world class players in every position, so he can rotate if need be and play each player depending on the opponents...one thing is for sure though...they'll continue being the best team in the world if they manage to pull off the Fabregas and Villa transfer, which is looking likely....regardless of how much money Madrid throw.

I'm expecting a HUGE hit back from Madrid after the champions league final, as they won't appreciate Barca taking all the headlines once again.

Arsenal do the deal it will be fantastic for you guys trust me. Get £40 million for him plus Yaya Toure and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Make Van Persie your new captain. Fantastic!!!. Make make a wild bid for Buffon at Juventus for £15 million - they might just accpet as they want to build a new squad any way. Maybe even get Joe Cole on free transfer from Chelsea.

Football Managertastic

No way will Fabregas become the world's most expensive player this summer - even if Barca valued Ibra at £35m (which is still roughly a £25m hit in one season) and Toure at approx £15m, you'd still expect them to fork out an extra £40m for Fabregas :?

Wow, that was quite expensive, wasn't it? lol

I don't have faith in Arsenals negotiators, as we always get a rubbish deal when we sell players....look at the Henry deal, that was a joke and that's when he was recognised as one of the best and most consistant players in the world for years.

We need the Spurs negotiators....look at how much they received for Carrick and berbatov? lol

Apparently Arteta has already stated is not available and roSICKy isn't fit enough to be considered as a regular....he wasn't that effective at the end of the season either.

I'd love Gourcuff to replace him but I heard he wants to remain in france for another season, although Man City is going to test his resolve.
