I want a new phone and torn between these 2.
The cookie can take up to 8gb micro sd cards, the viewty only up to 4 if I saw that right.
The viewty plays divx and has 3G, the cookie doesnt.
Viewty has a 5MP camera, the cookie 3MP.
Viewty doesn´t come in white, cookie does.
People say the viewty has a better browser than the cookie.

Don´t know how they "feel" as I don´t know anyone who has either of them and could have a look at.

Your experiences if you´ve got one of these phones---
Post them please :)

You could always go to a local Phones4U / CarPhoneWarehouse / other phone shop to have a look at them. I can't comment on the browsers as I've not tried them, but if you're after browsing the web then the cookie not having 3G is a bit of a disadvantage anyway. ;-)

Generally, the Viewty is a better spec. Cookie is slightly thinner.

[FONT="Book Antiqua"][SIZE="3"][COLOR="Red"]i bought myself and my daughter the cookie in december, rubbish, we sold them both on ebay in march...

@duckmagic:
I won´t be surfing on it a lot.(more like a rare thing actually)
Just looked at the specs in general and saw that the viewty browser is a different one to the cookie browser.
I don´t like going into phone shops to be honest.
The sales guys are all the same type at those places and I can´t stand them LOL

Thanks for posting ;)
But I´m not nuts enough to spend that much money on a phone LOL
100 for either the cookie or viewty are pushing it aleady.
I love gadgets but I´m not paying god knows how much for a cell phone
as I mainly use it to text, everything else is just a bonus.

I have a cookie and it has a few niggles but love it, niece also has one and loves it, dont think its cumbersome at all, really light and easy to use, i did have a look at the viewty but found it heavier and not as nice to hold as the cookie, i know the viewty has a better camera, but i dont use it for pics tbh, go for the cookie, you wont be dissapointed!! also i dont think the viewty has an internal stylus like the cookie, might be wrong

my gf has the viewty got it in January, We have the same choice to make.

We went for ther viewty in Black which looks really good,

Camera is pretty good although i have a slr for picstures but its great for the odd funny snap.

Touch screen is pretty decent to texting is good and my gf texts really fast, If i use it you can rotate it and use a full qwerty touch screen or even hand writing recognition if you want

Browser is handy and has saved me a few times if ive need to do something when out and about.

any more info give me a shout!

@clondikemike
Yep that´s a factor I looked at. The cookie seems to be sleeker than the viewty.
And yes, cookie has an internal space for the stylus, viewty doesn´t
:)
What color do you have? I´d really like the white one as I got a white psp and ds lite too
but I can´t find any decent pics online except stockpics.

no viewty doesnt have internal stylus. It loops on similar to a charm and looks like a lipstick, I just tend to use my fingers when using it.

The OP has asked about the LG Viewty vs The LG Cookie. Presumably because they're both sub-£100, which is naround £180 cheaper than the KC910.

So, please don't take this off topic. Thanks.

Yeah the good cam in the viewty is definitely a plus.
I assume that texting on the viewty and cookie are pretty much the same?!
The browser is just faster cuz of 3G, correct? As it´s like broadband or at least that´s what I read.
I wouldn´t surf much on it. Only would if it had built in wi-fi which it doesn´t.
Maybe there will be decent flatrates for surfing on your phone at some point...

We have both here - and I think the Viewty is much better, although my partner has just started to use it. My daughter has the Cookie and she loves that too, but she's only ten, and tbh, it feels very much like a child's phone to me. Anyway, the extra spec on the Viewty make it much better value for money imo.

I get where you´re coming from :)
Although personally I find the cookie has nicer curves. The viewty seems more "edgy"/bulky or does it just look like that on pics?

Not used a cookie but the viewty is pure crap.

So many completely different opinions. This won´t be an easy one lol

Just put them side-by-side and the main difference really is the thickness - because of the housing for the camera presumably - but yes, the Cookie has more rounded edges.

Reasons please.

I know that "edi" (mod) had a Viewty and found that the battery life was terrible due to the power that the screen was taking...

You don´t have a 8gb micro sd flying around that you could put in the viewty by any chance?
:)
I read mixed things about whether cards bigger than 2gb work with it or not.
Storage is kind of a big thing as I wanna use it to listen to blogcasts and music too.

there are some power options on the phone to increase battery life.

May look at getting one for OH's b'day at these prices!

i have an 8gb card i use in the viewty with no problems, although it can be very very slow to save photos/videos whem using the 8gb card, with 2gb its fast, I hated the viewty for the past 18 months thinking it was rubbish for some reason, althought the camera and video are great.

Then I got a Tocco ultra two day ago and i hate it ! sold it on and am buying another viewty on pay as you go and using it with my contract. It has excellent build quality, very long battery life, good touch screen, quite simple to use its basically a very good phone. The only real problem it has is that it can be hard to go back to a word in the text messaging and edit it as there is no scroll back button, you have to press the screen, annoying to say the least but compared to the tocco ultra its FAR easier.

I ll never call my viewty rubbish again ! I tried the LG arean and the menus are all cumbersome and all these phones seem to be getting too complex for their own good with their 3d menus and 'widgets' imo the viewty gets it just right, it takes a while to get used to navigating it but then its hassle free

my brother has the cookie and its cheap rubbish, feels like it would snap if you sat on it. It is thinner and more 'slender' than the viewty but, as with the arena, it feels plasticky and of a poor build quality, the viewty is metal and feels like a piece of quality, its thicker than the cookie but its not 'bulky' its smaller than a iphone and thinner than a Nokia n95

Thanks Insomniac :)

If the 8GB cards work then there´s no question really..I guess I should get a viewty.
Only thing that puts me off a little is that the stylus doesn´t go in the phone, it doesn´t
have that accelerometer thing or whatever it´s called and it doesn´t come in white.
Not enough reasons though not to buy the better one of the 2 phones

Unless you want to sacrifice better specs for a phone which you prefer the looks of... (I'm not making this complicated :whistling: )

If you get one and the 8GB works fine for you too, could you let me know? I'm loathe to buy one until I get a couple of confirmations. A few older threads elsewhere said it didn't recognise cards above 2GB, something that has perhaps been fixed with the latest f/ware.

LOL I know..I´m making it a bit complicated myself.
But it´s 100 bucks after all. I don´t wanna buy one and then not be happy with it

Sure
I read a few things on google about this.
They say you need to fill the card with 6.2GB of stuff for it to work.
Read that on a few forums actually. Not just one.

My viewty was bought when they first came out, its more likely to be the brand of 8gb card you use, I use a sandisk, my card is actually filled with DS homebrew as well, I swap it between the two
#33
Hmm not as easy as I thought to make the decision LOL
I wanna use it as MP3 player too as my old U2 ipod won´t make it long anymore.
So if the viewty really gets that slow when a bigger card is in it, it´s no good really.
HELP! lol
Why couldn´t they just make a phone that has the good bits of both phones :(
#34
Screen has just gone on my Viewty and as it's no longer stocked I'm getting a refund. To be honest I'm glad - really disliked the clunky touchscreen after using an apple touch (which is wonderful!) had to press really hard to get it to work. Also the camera was not at all as wonderful as I'd been led to expect - no better than the rubbish camera phones I've had before. The video was excellent though. I'm still considering the cookie as £100 is my absolute limit and I really want a touch phone - videos on youtube make it look more responsive than the viewty. One other thing the battery life on my viewty was fine - I know it gets a lot of bad press for that.
