If you bought the LG G2 on the £150 Vodafone deal, or if you have it anyway, then hopefully this thread will be helpful for you :)
I have been looking for a case and a screen protector and it's fair heavy going. So I thought I would share all the research I have done with you.

I am going to paste what I have so far into the comments, then keep tidying it up and adding more.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this thread :) SupremeJaguar, tryn2help, Alloneword, mfactor, simplyjimbo, Bier, spaceinvader, OB1, emaad, Wiseone1111, Sykos, rosco123, chokedup1, jewpons, unreality... I am sorry if I have missed anyone out! I really appreciate the effort everyone has all made :)

I am trying to keep all the most relevant into in the first three posts, if there is anything you think I have missed out, please let me know. There are almost certainly other interesting nuggets of information through the pages of their thread, so I hope you enjoy reading it through :)

Any questions or thoughts about the phone, please do comment.

---Useful Apps---

Anti-Theft

Cerberus: Play Store | AppStore

Also Android Device Manager can help you track a stolen phone.

Control LED Notification Lights

Light Flow: Play Store | AppStore

The free version of this app will give you an idea of what it is like. However, any app the free version doesn't control, will lose it's LED notification altogether, so I recommend getting the paid for version if you want to do this.

Call Logs and Dialling Functions

One thing that bothered a few of use when we first got this phone, is that when you press the call button, instead of taking you straight to the call log like other Android phones, it would take you to the dial pad. It is impossible to re-order the tabs, so that the call log shows first.

One way to get round this is download Call Log Shortcut (free).

You can install this, then replace the call button with the button to this app. The button is not as pretty as the original call button, but you can change this back by; holding down on the Call Log Shortcut icon, until a purple paint bush icon appears. Tap on the purple pain brush, the select the original call icon.

Tip: When you unlock and are asked to enter the phone model number, you will need to enter 802, rather than 2. The intentional version of the G2's full model number is 802.

---Rooting Instructions---

Written Guide

Simple Guide for those looking to root: (No PC needed) - Thanks to SupremeJaguar for this :)

Towelroot method: [will work if you haven't updated the software]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9yaEn2hQpdo (same process for the G2)

Step 1: Download Towelroot from their website (Click the red Lambda)
Step 2: Enable the installation of apps from unknown sources and install the app. (ignore any security warnings)
Step 3: Click "make it rain" - You should now be rooted!
Step 4: Download root checker to verify that you're rooted.
Step 5: Install SuperSU [open the app and install the binary using the "normal" method] (optional, but highly recommended)
Step 6: You can now uninstall Towelroot and the root checker app. You can also re-enable the unknown sources setting.

Stump Root method: (works on multiple LG devices) [will work in most cases]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_dEsjkZVAI (works on the G2 also)

Step 1: Download most recent version of Stump Root from the official XDA thread.
Step 2: Enable the installation of apps from unknown sources and install the app. (ignore any security warnings)
Step 3: Click the "grind" button.
Step 4: Reboot your device when the app instructs you to.
Step 5: Install SuperSU [open the app and install the binary using the "normal" method] (required)
Step 6: Uninstall Stump Root. You can also re-enable the unknown sources setting.

The advantage of these methods are they are noob-friendly. You can try these methods without risk, if they don't work then it does nothing to your phone!

If you would prefer to use Towel Root and have already updated the software on your phone, Alloneword has had success doing this by factory resetting the phone [Settings > Back up & reset > Factory Reset Data]. However, please be aware that you will loose all the data on your phone by doing this, so back up anything you want to keep :)

Video Guide

Video instructions for rooting posted by mfactor. Thanks mfactor! :) Takes approximately ten minutes. More about mfactor's experience here.

---Useful Short Codes---

I have to admit, I haven't tried to yet. I have just been doing a little bit of reading, but have a seen a few different methods. I got this into from SupremeJaguar in G2 Vodafone thread. Perhaps SupremeJaguar can advise?

Great idea MSK, hopefully lots of peeps who got the vodaphone deal will benefit with these links.

Also like to thank SJ for all the help he gives peeps struggling with phones.

I've still got my SK G2, but it's slightly different to the international model.
Running really nice at the mo' and will prob' look at putting CM on at some stage.

The SK model came with two removable batteries and a recharging case, SD slot, antenna and slightly thicker body.
It also had two protective cases and three screen protectors in the box.

Downside is no 4g, doesn't show UK tv, still tries to phone home to SK sites - also most of it is still in Korean, other than that - loving it.

That's interesting there was a model with a removable battery, I had no idea. I guess that might be why it's thicker? Sounds ike you got tons of accessories with it too!

Anytime :) Wow, that's quite a haul! Would love to hear what you think of all that when it arrives :) Especially the Otterbox vs the Ballistic case.

I've gone for a copy(?) of the SPIGEN case so far, taken a punt just to see what it's like. If it turns out to be rubbish I'll buy something else. Delivery estimate went up by 4 day as soon a they despatched it which was a bit annoying.

Seems like the company selling it might be a importer of Chinese products after a little research. But I can't link all the addresses together so I am not sure if the companies just have the same name. Will obviously report back too :)

Next on my list is a glass screen protector...

I believe it does come with a screen protector, yes. Taken from their website:

- Slim, protective Commuter Series case for LG G2 case guards against drops, bumps, dust and scratches
- Slick exterior shell deflects impact and easily slides into pockets
- Slip cover absorbs impact and has a good grip in the hand
- Self-adhesive screen protector guards the touch screen against scuffs and scratches
- Trusted protection from the Commuter Series case for LG G2

Seems like the company selling it might be a importer of Chinese products after a little research. But I can't link all the addresses together so I am not sure if the companies just have the same name. Will obviously report back too :)

Next on my list is a glass screen protector...

My "Crazyprofit" case is actually a SPIGEN case and identical to the official one! :)

Good luck with finding a glass screen protector! :)

I think the South Koreans make two versions of the phone - one for the home market and one for the rest of the world.
The one I've got is a 'home' model.
I don't know if this practice is standard for everything ie tv's etc that they make - or even if other Korean companies (samsung) do likewise.

Ah, that's fantastic! I read that in the reviews, but I didn't want to hold my breathe until it actually arrived. More excited now I know yours was real too :)

Shouldn't be too hard, I think it's just a case of deciding how thick is best really. Waiting on a £5 Amazon voucher I'm owed to be e-mailed, that I was going to use to pay for it is worst part ;)

That sounds quite likely they would have one for home and one (or more) to sell internationally.

Did you order it directly from Korea? I've always wondered about doing that, they seem to be quite a way ahead of us with some technology. I had always assumed their phones would be incompatible with our network, but I have never looked into it properly.

lmao :D awww appreciate the sentiment Deeky, but I am going to be kicking off any one gets VIP other than you this month :)

Pity I won't be able to use this thread. I vaguely remember seeing the LG G2 thread but it didn't register at the time what a great deal it was :(

Neither did I to be honest. I was too caught up on it not having expandable memory and having a non-removable battery.

I wandered into the Vodafone shop late Saturday afternoon, just to see out of curiosity if they had any because it had got so much heat. Then I didn't buy it! I asked them to keep it back until the morning, so I could sleep on whether or not it was a good idea to get it.

It was only when I got back home and started checking it specs against OnePlus One, HTC One etc that the penny dropped, then I spent the night regretting not buying it. I think I was exceptionally lucky it was still there, given all the trouble people have had ordering the from Vodafone.

I am wondering if other companies will start clearing their G2 stock too now though, since the G3 has been out a while. I hope they do so other people can get some bargains :)

Some visiting friends brought it over with them - I wouldn't know about ordering it.
It wasn't really compatible until I put a question in 'Ask' and SJ along with others helped me get it set up and running just fine.

Ha! That's my phone. X)

My friends tell me Koreans are addicted to Korean Soap Shows.
The buses and trains etc are full of people glued to their phones watching their fav' soap shows on their way to and from work. oO

I'm unaware if my phone could be set up to watch British soaps - but I'm not altogether fussed about that X)

Well i have just got my "Magic Global Gadgets Heavy Duty Armour" case and to be honest it looks nice and like the way it can be made to sit on it's stand but to be honest it's not worth the money i'm trying to protect my investment and this just is not up to the job, can't be bothered to return it, so if anyone wants it and lives near the se1/se16 postcode you can have it.

I should be getting more cases next couple of days i'll let folks know what i go for.

Just thought I would chip in,

I bought both the Otterbox and the 32ndshop case's, and actually prefer the cheapy one looks wise (more hard core oO )

Fit and finish on both is very good with the Otterbox being slightly better (pull out bottom plugs on the Otterbox when fitting)

But the deal breaker is the rubbery feel they both have , the 32ndshop is tackier and actually feels nicer in the hand BUT its too tacky, I struggled all day to put it in my top shirt pocket and it was a pain every time whereas the Otterbox slips in fine like the naked phone........

[b]Avoid these ChargingDock you have to use a lot of pressure to make it fit and the micro usb is the only thing holding it up

And this Charging Dock same as the above and with the added problem of finding an adapter for the socket I thought the 3 pin to USB that came with the LG would do the trick , but puts the thing upside down X)

Decided to give up on chargers and use the one it came with and use This

Here a case identical to the SPIGEN LG G2 Case Slim [Slim Armor] for a fraction of the price! https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00MBEKJEK/

Picked up the Spigen lookalike from ebay for £1.99 with a screen protector included which will do until my order for a tough screen arrives. Fitted perfectly, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141377319258

Wet screen protector and wipe screen itself with a little wet lint free cloth (glasses cloth) works perfectly for me everytime, many youtube videos to show how to do it
