My son had this in the pocket of his jeans and the screen has now gone black with a few funny lines on it.

Took it to the Orange shop where I bought it but they won't do anything about it as apparently. you aren't supposed to carry your phone in your pocket!

Any one any idea what I can do with it as I can't afford to lose £88 :(

find out how much it will cost to be repaired - they will do it if you are paying for it

She did give me the number for LG but said they will not repair it for free as it is not a manufacturer fault.

oh well ok yeah, ring Orange up and tell them that your phone has a fault.
they will tell you to do lots of things to it to try and get it working, just say "yeah ive done that" and then insisst that you want a replacement sent out.

how long have you had the phone?

Hi - The same happened to my Nokia phone (screen went black and had line going across it). Basically you have to replace the inside LCD. I took mine to the O2 shop and a very nice salesman told me it would be cheaper to buy the LCD on its owm off EBAY and then get it repaired by one off these mobile phone repair shops. O2 were going to charge me £60 to repair!!!!. Anyway I did buy the LCD off Ebay ( I can't remember the sellar but can find out if you want me to) for £11 and then went onto YouTube where I found some one showing you step by step on how to open the phone up and replace the LCD - it was brilliant!!

My husband copied the steps and put the whole phone back together in a matter of 30mins! All for £11. If you don't feel confident doing it yourself then just buy the LCD and take it to a repair shop where I think they will charge about £15/£20.

Thanks for the tips. I can't find a replacement screen on Ebay though :(

He has only had the phone a few days, I bought it a week before christmas.

go to Carphone warehouse they do most warrany repairs free of charge regardless of where you bought it. If its a broken lcd and deemed a a chargeable repair you will have to pay £40.
