Its not like those emails where you need to send to 7 people and something really cool will happen, but dosent??

Just out of curiosity, why do you want to downgrade the firmware on a TV?

I did this with my LG, but just used my harmony remote to enter the engineer menu and change the media center option?

Can you not do this on your LG?

Logitech Harmony 555 :
- Add LG TV in Harmony remote configuration
- Connect to Logitech Harmony website with Login/Password : http://members.harmonyremote.com
- Go to : http://members.harmonyremote.com/EasyZapper/Infrared/ShowInfrared.asp
- Click on "Manual >"
- In "Data Value" zone, copy/paste this Philips Pronto code :
0000 006d 0022 0002 0157 00ac 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0689 0157 0056 0015 0e94

- Click on "Process >" : message "Converted from Pronto format successfully!"
- Click on "Next >"
- Click on "Select an active device"
- Choose device for your LG "TV"
- Enter command name "EZ Adjust", for example
- Click on "Add >"
In remote software, you can now assign command "EZ Adjust" to any button.

All I can say is WOW!!
I followed the instructions above and now my LG 19LD350 TV can now play avi movies through the usb port. It was soo simple.
After following the above I simple entered the password 0000 on the TV, changed DIVX option to 1 and hey presto.

Any other settings that would be usefull to alter?

Also why is it I have to hack the TV to do this? Why don't they sell it as a feature?
Thanks again immsie

Could be something to do with licencing divx or trying to get you to buy their expensive TVs.

Did you follow my instructions (in MARCH haha) or the OPs?

Oops, yes followed the instructions you posted back in march vibeone, thanks.
On other threads people suggest altering Digita Eye, THX set, THX Media Detector and Energy Star.
Are they worth altering?
I assume the bluetooth and skype options wouldn't do anything so not worth altering those :)

I've never done those - what do they do?

No idea, I didn't want to change them in case they caused me a problem.
I presume the THX Media detector will set the sound to the best setting, but not sure how and if it is wise to change it.
I am more than happy I can play things from the usb port for now. I will probably check some other tiem into the other settings - if I am feeling brave enough I may even alter them :)

There's a whole kinda mod scene about it all over the interweb, there's a bit about it here:
http://lgusb.wikispaces.com/

As I said, I'm merely looking at the tv's before purchasing, so have no hands-on experience. There is definate mkv action though.
