Okay so im having a bit of trouble writing an abstract report.

I am on the introduction and I get writers block (what are the chances eh?)

Question:
So anyway I was wondering in the introduction, I am basically saying what I have to for the assignment correct?

(non VLR members welcome too)

An abstract doesn't really have an introduction - it's a summary of the whole thing, once you've written the whole report. You do it last.

There been many debates on where the abstract should be written, some say at the end when the whole report is finished, but others also suggest you should write it at the start, so you know exactly what is needed to be done and you don't go outside the scoop.

For this report I am going to write it at the start, I was just wondering what people thought the Introduction should be about since im going for the unorthodox approach of writing the abstract before finishing the report.

thanks for the reply and link.:)

I did have to laugh!!
That would be - no debates at all.
Abstract :
The interest lies in the complete lack of strategic planning for my investigation into nothing. I applied several techniques, including hoping for the best, but an analysis of the total lack of results demonstrates that there is nothing what-so-ever to be deduced and my report adds zero to and, in fact, may detract from the cumulative knowledge of civilised society.

* Choose a specific and detailed title - this 'sets the scene'
* An abstract should be short, not more than five per cent of the length of the final paper, or 250 words whichever is the smaller.
* Usually a single, well-developed paragraph, comprising probably three to four sentences at most.
* Consider the use of keywords embedded within the abstract to assist in electronic information retrieval, i.e. help it be googled?
* Do not include references, figures, tables or citations.
ok as best as i can member this is how you do it

so end of story close thread!
