Lidl - Bike Pump - Rant

Saw on Lidl's website that they have bike pumps for £4.99 - they look great, the exact bit of kit i need. So i travelled 10 miles to my nearest Lidl and bought the pump.

Came home, opened it up and what??? there's no attachment to hook it up to the bike?

Then, i saw a little button saying 'pull' so i taken it off and saw the connections. Could i get them out? NO, virtually impossible. It is impossible with the hands, luckilly i had some specialist tweezers for a computer so i used them and got them out

20 mins later i went back to the bike only to find the connections in the pump DIDNT FIT THE CONNECTION ON THE PUMP ITSELF !!! (nor did they fit on the bike).

It's a pathetic, cheaply made piece of crap that doesn't work. I SERIOUSLY recommend you avoid this product from Lidl at all costs.

I am going to take it back tomorrow (yes, another 20 mile round trip) because the principle of them gaining £4.99 for selling this tosh makes my blood boil.

They could of tested it first? Before it was put on their shelves, they must of had loads of returns because the connection on the pump doesn't fit onto itself!!

Grrrr. anyone else had this problem?

10/15 quid of petrol for a 40 mile drive your car must do about 3 mpg lol

you're probably not far wrong there, but like i say, i just feel they're wrong selling already-faulty products and getting a profit for it

put somthing nasty in the pump and ask the manager to try it

There are TWO sizes of bicycle pump connectors that attach to the valve on the inner tube of the tyre. It's not really the shops fault if you don't do your research first to find out if it will fit.

Did you bother to read the OP? The adapters don't for the PUMP.

I may be off the mark here put did you flip the bit of plastic up the locks the pump over your tyre valve?

On my track pump I have two holes that one for schreader and presta but you have to lock them on to the valve, you do not add an attachment to go over the the tyre valve, just fit the end of the pump over the valve and lock in place..

I am basing this on you buying the track pump and not the mini pump.

The extras in the handle are usually for blowing up balls or other things.

oh and the fact that you used the word "of" instead of "have" means i can guarantee your £4.99 that YOU are in the wrong here. you just dont know how to work the pump or how to use the connections.

existant deals in Asda,Morrisons,Tesco's et al into perspective

which one did you get, the tall floor pump or the mini one. the tall one has the 2 valve sizes built into the head of the adapter, the small one may be the same. check to see if it has to holes at the end that attatches to the valve
#20
Bought a double barrel one out lidl a few years back and it fell apart within a week.
The tall floor ones are great for motorbike tires though.
The barrel ones are crap.
#21

no it wasn't that one. it was one of the ones with two plastic feet either side that you press down and it stands up itself..

Anyway, i got my money back. Lidl were VERY unhappy to give the refund and kept suggesting i replaced it with another one, i refused because they all looked shoddy crap and i wasn't prepared to go through that nonsense again.

All that petrol wasted on travelling to Lidls must have punctured your budget a bit
