They would not be drawn on the similar spec comment as a iPhone is only acceptable to me???

Has anyone else had issues or claims for a iphone with this company.... It would be nice if they sent me a 3g, or even a 3gs...

You'll get the same iPhone model back or a cash settlement.

I'm with Lifestyle too.

When my phone (LG Viewty) got stolen a few months ago the insurance that I had (cant remember the name but was with Vodafone) said as the Viewty was no longer available as a relacement (even though they still sell them in the shop???:?) they would have to offer me a better phone....ended up with the samsung tocco ultra the week it was released....so I dont see why they would offer you similar, Surely it should be the same or an upgrade?

Depends if your policy is old for new.

I don't think lifestyle is.

Hmmm, This concerns me... The 1st gen can not be purchased now, and I assume a cash settlement will not cover a new iphone purchase...

The thing that annoys me is the phone could of been fixed cheaply, but I thought I would go through lifestyle as I did not want to invalidate the insurance or guarantee.

Tell them you want the Original iPhone or the 3G.

I wouldn't push for a 3G S considering the 3G is available too

I need to send my iPhone 3G off as I have cracked the screen. I am with them as well.

Ok, Just a update..

Just got a call from them, they can not order iPhones as a business, so I was offered a N96, or £342.54 which is the price of a new Iphone 3g from o2 on PAYG (See link).

http://shop.o2.co.uk/promo/iphoneindex/Pay_And_Go/3G

Obviously I took the payment which is to be credited to my account via bacs.

Now... What to do... I assume these phones are available with quidco or something, I can not understand why a 3gs is over £500, but would rather have one of them..

That's what they said, as they can not be brought in bulk, or via a business or something. Fine by me, Apple selling them for the same price and I get 3% quidco, or will look at other places. Maybe CEX.

If you can, try to muster up the other£98 for a 3G S, believe me they're worth it.

It is funny, but I also think they are worth it, but others today on reading threads say there is not much difference.....

If they gave me a gift voucher for £350 I would be happy to add £100 for the 3gs.

But they have given me cold hard cash, I am struggling and would find it hard to pay over £400 for a phone.......

I have spent all afternoon on the internet and ebay..... looking for a deal.

Just think, you'll only be paying £100.

Insurance are paying the rest.

As I said in another thread, the update from 2G to 3G iPhone was smaller then the update between the 3G and 3G S.

Good luck whatever you do.

How long did the claim take? (Incase I need to ever send miune off ) and did they supply you with a temp phone.

The claim was a pain to start with. First they want the original1 receipt which must state the IMIE number on it.
Mine was the £169 carphone warehouse one which does not have the IMIE number on it. So my claim was refused, after a phone call, I had to ask my phone operator for a letter stating the IMIE of the phone I was currently using on the network. They have a fancy word for it.. Received that and sent it in, then claim was reopened and successful, they took he excess from my bank account (£25 in my case). Asked for the phone to be posted to them, special delivery.

2 weeks after posting I got the call saying the engineers said it was unrepairable, the BACS transfer of the settlement of £346 pound will take 1 - 10 days.

And no, I was not offered a replacement phone for use during this time.

Ahh I have my contract which has my IMEI number on it so I guess that's fine. I know my excess is £30.

Glad you got it sorted though. What was wrong with it, smashed screen?

I had a crack on the screen, it was still working ok inc the touchscreen. I was thinking of cancelling the insurance so thought I would stick a claim in for the crack before I cancelled.
