I've listed an item on ebay its worth around £250ish, but its not appearing on the ebay listings yet, its a 24 hour auction. Supposivly it takes a few hours for it to appear but its been 3 hours so far but its still not showing. People have told me that it can take up to 24 hours to show, meaning that it might not actually be listed at all and ill end up paying £8 in fees for nothing at all.

Is there anything i can do other than cancelling (as i'll loose money), if it hasnt appeared after the 24 hours will ebay waive my fees since i havent been provided the service i was promised?

people looked at the item and it had bids but when you typed then name into the ebay search it returned alot of other people selling the same item but not mine :x

it sold for £40 less than all the others ?:?

lol, thats y i took mine off afte r the first day, and relisted it, but lost my 1.50 odd for listing the other post :( lol

Yeah i would cancel it, but i dont want to be charged £8 in fees just because their indexing service is rubbish. Only 9 people have viewed it so far but i think that is just me and my friends. Im talking to a representative on ebay at the moment.

I don't know what level of experience you guys have on eBay so please don't be offended by my observations/comments.

Have you checked to see if your listing was in the same category as the others that sold for £40 more?
Is your Spelling EXACTLY the same as their spelling in the title?
Did you start your listing with the same start price?

Now I know this sounds REALLY obvious but... A low start price can make all the difference as to whether people start bidding.

Spelling can have a big effect on how and if your listing appears to people searching for your item. You can actually buy software that inputs a variety of miss-spellings into the eBay search box. You will be amazed at how many people have made a simple spelling mistake in their listing and end up out of pocket. For example, someone selling a PlayStation 3 may miss-spell it as, 'Play Staysion 3'. You may laugh but it happens! The software mentioned above exploits this and the searcher can end up with a nice little deal :)

Log out of your account, and then have a search.

Logging out doesnt change anything.

Okay, I know when listed something a few times, I couldn't find it in a search, but when I logged out and searched it was there. Must've been coincidental.

The person i spoke to using the LiveChat feature says it will definatly have appeared by the morning, i couldnt resist getting him to say: Whale Oil Beef Hooked outloud though, he found it quite funny to say the least lol.

No matter, i'm high bidder:p:whistling:

have you tried fat fingers it explains what it does on the home page http://fatfingers.com/that might explain why you can't find it

I listed a gold ring that i found from when we moved house. It had been sitting in the drawer for the last 6 years. Was quite concerned as I couldn't find it in the listings.

Did a search for "18ct gold wedding ring" and as you can imagine there were quite a few. But went a few pages into the search. Not sure if a whole load of people had paid an extra tenner to have their listing appear first, but my listing appeared on about 8 pages deep with a day to go!! Might be worth looking!

Just searched for it and its now been listed after 6 hours of me first putting it on ebay.

It sometimes takes several hours for listings to show up in the search. It's v.frustrating and I am not sure why. eBay basically say it's just one of those things. :x

whats the listing number and did you set a scheduled start time? Maybe you set it to start at a future date & time.

Like I said before, this happens from time to time unfortunately. :-( I've had stuff take 12+ hours to show up before. :?

To the OP. You really should have specified a scheduled start time of say 9PM.

5:26PM is a really bad time for an auction to end as a lot of potential bidders are probably commuting, cooking dinner etc.

Apparently, the best seller prices for auctions come in around 9pm on a Sunday.
#26
my reserve is £300, i'll see how this auction goes, if it doesnt sell then ill arrange to end for 9pm on sunday. Thanks for the tip.

I have bid it up for you to £300 :)

Can always extend if time allows it or used to be able to,they probably stopped that part of revising a listing now.

Surprised noone else as said, but don't bother sending it on Standard Parcels, personally would send it on Special Delivery.I like to see it signed for,an item of that much.
