Just bathe it lots in warm almost hot antiseptic water if theres any infection try and squeeze out the nasty, most antiseptics should help such as dettol or the orange one cant remember what thats called (as long as it doesn't say brush cleaner)

Hot water my sting a little, so you could just try germolene and a plaster, that may draw it out. Depends how far along it is, its basically a small abcess so you need to get the puss out to prevent the infection growing.

i soak mine is hot water and then they normally let the puss out which relieves the pressure on the side of the finger but water has to be hot

I put a lot of anbesol ( teething stuff) on some cotton wool and dabbed it on my sons finger so it went numb, then he was a lot less hysterical when I was trying to even look at the whitlow .

Mix soap and sugar together, put on the whicklow, wrap with a plaster.....and Walllah...fixed...trust me works 100% HTH x

As a pharmacist I would say go and buy some magnesium sulphate paste, this stuff will suck out all the puss and infection within 24 hours.
