  If you want a lizard start off with a Leopard Gecko, not messy or hard work.
  Would you be ok feeding live food to the lizard? crickets etc.

  Pets at home have them in locked glass cages so the only way you can get one from there is if you smash the glass and run out. Most places have lizards locked in glass cages so I suggest you go at night when it's shut and break in the back. You could try and find the keys but it's going to be hard. I guess you could risk smashing the glass in the day but the chances of getting caught are going to be high.

  Yes Lizards are easy to keep, providing you give them the correct lighting, heating, food (mostly insects, occasional pinky) and supplements.

  I would feel bad about them being lonely all the time though. Could I get two in the same tank or would they try and kill one another? Do they prefer being alone?

  You can get more than one living together, with beardies try to get either 2 females or a male and a female as 2 males will fight for dominance.
  Mine gets handled often and always has been, I feel safe enough with her to let my 4 year old man handle her.

  Anyone thinking of getting a bearded dragon should do a lot of reading up on them. They can be easy to keep but when things go wrong they require alot of attention and money.
  First your setup needs to be spot on, that includes correct UV lighting and thermostaticaly controlled basking spot. temps need checked regularly with IR gun. 3ft viv minimum.
  Diet and supplements is crucial in the first year with livefood a must.
  Be prepared to have yearly fecal tests run by lab which cost around £40 and if beardie becomes ill you will need to find a vet for medication and run follow up fecal tests.
  It can quite easily turn into an expensive hobby!

  I have 3 leopard geckos and they are super easy to look after and cheap to feed.
  
  I feed them gut loaded mealworms using tweezers (so you dont even need to touch the insects).
