Local fairground (travelling fair) who do you complain to?

Been chatting to some of my neighbours today, theyre quite a nice bunch really and they think crime is worse in the area when the travelling fair ground is across the road (which it is now) they were talking about making a joint complaint as its nosiy, theres an overspill of yobs into the area, cars and property are damaged and its generally a pain.

Who do you complain to? who gives them permission to use the field? does a travelling fairground have to have a special licence?

I think you'll find that you can complain to your local council. However the travelling fair has very ancient rights to set up where they do, and I think you'll find the law is very much on their side.

HGV tachograph laws dont apply to them, so why the hell should civil rights make a difference

I'm quite suprised theyve pitched up where they have now because the council recently planted a load of baby trees along the edge of the field and theyve just ploughed all their lorrys and ride equipment thru them

Yeah you should see the state they left our local park in, the council will spend days reseeding and getting it back to decent condition. All at the taxpayers expense, lovely people eh? They have so many ancient rights you wouldn't believe it

if enough people ran a petition would it do anything? i dont mind collecting signatures cos i think a lot of ppl in this area are not in favour of the fairground but would it really get anywhere?

lol, I see what you did there

The louts that the fair brings into your area is not a fairground issue, its a community issue, I would speak to your local community support officer, or MP with your concerns. They will be able to look at appropriate support during the time the fairground is in town
