That's shocking, especially for old people who rely on the corner shop.
#2
just stop going in that will hurt them, they are scum
#3
Neither of mine even had a single loaf of bread at 6 last night and still don't.
#4
She went there last night and they were sold out, told her they would have some by 6.30am today and they estimated they would be sold out by 8.00am she went at 9.00 and they had loads,no wonder at that price!!

Well, if they have limited supplies then why wouldn't they? I would if i was running the shop.

Economics 101 - Supply and Demand!!
#7
They are cutting their noses to spite their faces, they will end up with loads of bread that they will have to reduce.

I don't think you would be happy if every delivery company put there prices up for example because of some snow,i think it's terrible exploitation:roll:

my local sainsburys was empty this morning lol, but then again so were many of the shelves...tons of bread tho, its gas im struggling to get, post offices and pp near me all shut!!

Its no worse or no better than ebayers cashing in on the gogo hamster shortage - something that was quite popular on HDUK.

However for a local shop to do it is silly as customers remember these things .......
#11
Happened at a garage in Liverpool many years ago, he put up petrol when there was a shortage. Nobody went after that and it's been abandoned for years.

The same should happen here, it's a disgrace really.

She should email sky news, they'd love that.

Yes, in some ways it is exploitation.
But when that said shop runs out of stock for bread, then they will be receiving no income at all for that type of product, and say there are many types of product out of stock then the shop's profits will plummet.
By putting the prices up a bit, the shop may be safeguarding itself against this eventual outcome.

A local garage here didn't put up the prices, and they too are history.
Maybe it has no correlattion?
#20
went to my local shop to buy some mint sauce and the price sticker was on top of the sell by date...I peeled back the sticker and it was 12 months out of date!!!!! The owner is my next door neighbour...I've not been back since and I haven't mentioned it to him....

im assuming she is on a pre pay meter

and a happy new year to you and the family xx

Well we needed bread because we run out of it!! - But the stores were empty, guess what we did . . . Ate something else!! Why do people have to stockpile it for goodness sake, maybe putting the price up will stop people buying 10 loaves. Its only snowing people!

Chances are if they have put the bread up they have put lots of essentials up too.

I can't believe you think it's ok to do that simply because of bad weather.

I hope you don't have an elderly or ill relative that has to pay inflated prices for everyday items as obviously you don't care:roll:

basic economics, if demand suddenly rises then you slap the price up, if people need it, they will pay, i bet most people here would do it

30pence more atm is nothing to complain about, its 30 pence, dont want to pay that, then dont. Buy something else
#27
The days of helping the elderly, incapable or vulnerable in times when it may be difficult for them is now an opportunity to line pockets.

Shame on some.

A lot of places employ a policy of flexible pricing to maximize profit. While you can always just go to another store if you happy to pay the prices the retailer is charging.
#29
I wonder if they put the price up for everyone
[mod]#30
And people moan about Tesco etc for things.

This is one of the reasons i don't use corner shops.

Thats just wrong...whether it was purposely done or an accident, that should have been reported.
#33
I've never understood why people would go on pre pay gas/water/electricity meters?
#34
hope it backfires on them , trying to rip off the very people that have kept there shop going over the past year. so many corner shops have closed! hope they build a tesco next door :whistling:
