Locksmiths- Getting locked out of your house

So a neighbour paid almost £275 last night to get back into his house after locking himself out. This is the cost of drilling the lock (to hack the barrel) and replacing the lock. Nice profit for around a 10 minute job!

Was horrified to hear the price. Mind you, the locksmith did drive around in a very expensive jeep.

Only the cowboy's drill the lock, it looks good when they hand you the bill :x

That was a total rip off and a cowboy job, Your neighbour could've broken the lock for cheaper than that, Probably a window would have been cheaper to!

A Wrecked drill bit costs 50p, And the lock £50 max.

I bet it was a standard yale lock to!

I can well believe that price for a London job.

Mind you the locksmith does have costs to cover: Jeep, petrol, insurance, tax, VAT, the new lock, tools of trade, advertising, NI, kids at posh school, wife at hairdressers every day......

Actually i'd report this company/locksmith.

A whole new lock set costs about £20 in Wilkinsons, So it would have cost £70 max (Based on £50 call out charge)

lol... to be honest, the only thing that keeps London expensive really is the cost of housing (which is also part of a false economy!) :whistling:

On top of it all, he was apparently a bit of a racist too. What can one do? Retaliation is not always the answer since some of these guys seem almost like criminal types.
