Just saw this story.

And you know that is not the 'the stig'.

This is infact a cardboard cut out of the stig that the bbc offices have.

I know because on my way to Westfield shopping centre, I always see this when I go there.

The SUN doing any research would be a first.

I am suprised the story wasnt accompanied by the good old phrase.......... "a source close to the stig said..." (queue make up what the hell you like).

Don't get too excited about it, the Sun isn't a newspaper, it is a comic produced specifically for the uneducated.

Wasn't it Jeremy Hardy who said 'the problem with the Daily Mail is it looks a bit like an actual newspaper, unlike the Sun, so some people actually take it at face value'.

My opinion tho, is that all the time newspapers can print a front page story, with a double page spread inside, all utterly fabricated or spawned from a vaguely linked halftruth overheard by someone, and then when caught, have to print an 'apology' that's in one column half an inch high on page 37, where's the reason to bother paying people to look up facts? Print what you like and sell more papers.

If I had my way any untrue article by a newspaper would have to be followed up by an apology of the same size and in the same position in the paper, if that's front page and pages 4 and 5, so be it. Also, they should have to pay up the amount that space would have got them in advertising as damages. IF damages are not applicable, then a charity donation.

Maybe they'd have to bother checking facts before printing then.

Some papers *cough* The Sun *cough* don't apologise for lies printed on their front page at all :whistling:
